IS DNB /FNB  IS EQUIVALENT,INFERIOR OR SUPERIOR TO MD/MS/MCH/DM COURSES ?

There is shortage of Post Graduate Doctors and super specialists Doctors in India, the required number of Medical Colleges recognised by MCI for PG or Super specialist courses are limited.Every patient wants specialist opinion as they think opinion of a GP holding MBBS degree is not sufficient for getting proper treatment and cure.Secondly due to wide spread corruptions in our society most Ayurvedic,Homeopathic, Siddha,Unani, phsiotherapist, nursing staffs etc openly practice Allopathy or modern medicines and occupy good poistions as medical Officers in Big or small private hospitals throughout country as they get less salary .Beside many quacks having no degree or with fake degrees practice openly even in big hospitals in big cities with big banners but police, general  and health administrations are bribed openly so they continue to grow ,so MBBS doctors face tough competition to survive so most MBBS wants to have a PG or super specialist degree.

For this DNB /FNB (Diplomate / Fellow of National Board)courses started By Health Ministry directly  through NBE or National Board Examination and many Private or good Government Hospitals were assigned to run these courses and these courses are very popular among students.Although persons selected as Board members of NBE including President, Directors,Secretary ,treasurers etc by Ministry on political and bureaucratic connections.so few  may have controversial reputations and not upto mark qualifications as reported in media or on net. But the examinations  conducted by this Board from entrance till passing out is so fair ,transparent and scientific that till today no single case of paper leak or getting in or passing by bribe reported although till today until highest court mandated to fill all PG or Super specialist seats by NEET PG Seats or DM/MCH was being sold openly against 1-5 crore bribe. So Government has enhanced number of DNB seats to meet demand of PG Doctors as here it is direct regulator unlike through MCI in medical Colleges.

Students undergoing such courses have to have rigorous seminars and tutorials beside clinical exposures and have to pass theory and practicals separately in exam centres away from their own centre with all externals and even after passing theory if in 03 attempts practical not cleared ,have to clear theory again, examination is tough while MD/MS/MCH/DM pass from MCI recgosnised Medical colleges having qualified teachers but appear for examinations in their own centre with their internals as examiners so still to pass DNB examination is tougher than MD/MS.Students undergoing such courses work very hard as mostly work in busy private  or Government hospitals where few leaves are permitted while many private hospitals pay them very less than what Board recommends and that too as a salary instead of stipend so they loose TDS and income tax too but Board is run by memebrs selected from many private hospitals so they donot take any action and many hospitals want such seats as they get 24x7 workers or  PG Resident doctors at a salary of 30-40 thousand whereas they have to pay 1-2 lacs otherwise.MD?MS students get good money as stipend everywhere and have much leaves and are usually not debarred to appear in exam if avail more leaves or fail in practicals, usually ater 1-2 failures they are passed on mercy ground as having exam at own college with own known teachers.

To provide them good honour and equivalence ,Government passed orders and compelled MCI to announce that DNB courses are equivalent to MD/MS and even DNB graduates can teach in medical colleges as teachers with 1-2 year residency in a teaching hospital but Parliament standing Committee while deciding fate of newly to be introduced National Medical Commission to replace MCI donot want equivalence of DNB to MD/MS in teaching as they dont have good exposure of teaching as many hospitals were they are trained lack  good teaching enviornment. Not only Parliamentarians even MCI or many specialist Associations of Doctors or even few IMA members are against it as they hold MD/MS degree themselves so they comment behind the curtain that DNB /FNB are much inferiors and cannot be allowed to teach and even donot select them so preferly for jobs in private hospitals if MD/MS/MCH is available.

It is high time that our Government should interfare and close these if such courses are inferior as if they donot get experiences in teaching hospitals but why to discriminate after a tough and hard entrance and exit ? Why they are paid so less with so much hard work and few leaves? Why two baords like MCI and NBE with a  single Health Ministry ? Why NBE board members are silent on plight of DNB students? Why two standard of even Post graduate and super specialist Doctors as before Public and in Media as it creates confusion and bring more litigations.MCI also send recommendations to Ministry for recognition of medical colleges as it is Government which recognise Medical colleges or increase its seat quota not MCI.Even MCI inspections and recommendations has been openly challanged by parliamentarians and caught in media stincts cameras as many medical colleges with ghost teaching faculties, fake patients in opd and ipd, meagure teaching infrastructures treatment has been allowed to run PG and Super specialist courses agians bribe. So in democracy elected government or Ministry is supreme and should allow to run both courses by a single board with same type of examinations for all thus closing any difference or discrimination between too directly or indirectly.

What is your stake and opinion regarding  the question of our time as DNB/FNB are equivalent or inferior to MD/MS/MCH/DM courses? What our government or Associations of Doctors should do,why IMA or other Associations are silent on this topic?
