EGO AND STRESS-- DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Posted by on Thursday, 22nd March 2012
It is common place to feel sad when things, which we do not like, happen, or when things, which we like do not happen around. Usually this leads to perennial and hysterical grumbling and blame game.
But this is not all.
Ironically; the things, which we like and long for; also; when happen around; do not please us! We often see in different media many benevolent activities going on. We see great achievements. We see sublime stories of the successes of mankind. We see manifestations of nobility and magnanimity.
While we do not feel sad as such; we do not feel buoyant as well. Somewhere in the heart of heart we feel dejected, left out and sunken; because we miss the credit or accolades!
Why is this so?
This is so; because we are living superficially. We have not reached our own depths. At this superficial stratum, we are separated from the universe and hence can not relate with and handle the unpleasant as well as pleasant things appropriately.
As we are far away from our own depths; we fail to realize that the roots of these things are very much within us and we can transform, evolve and emancipate unpleasant; or promote and rejoice the pleasant processes of blossoming.
We can experience this if we reach our roots, which are no way different from the root of universe; the source of cosmic romance. This reaching itself is the panacea that ensures and ensues individual and global blossoming.
Reaching the root of universe is the same as transcending the ego. The ego is nothing else but the state of descending and being imprisoned in “our” sensations, passions, emotions, beliefs, convictions, concepts and ideology.
It is worth noting that; the ego is natural at developmental stages of life. Having ego is not unnatural or abnormal. But because we are merged in our ego unidentifiably; the very thought or imagination of transcending ego and realizing the self; is dreadfully painful, like death.
But as we mature; and actually transcend ego and reach the root of our own being we become truly ecstatic!
Truly; the universal practice of NAMASMARAN with top priority; without fanatic insistence on anything else; is a universal and most fulfilling superactivity that reaches us to our own core i.e. the center of universe; and engenders individual and universal blossoming.
One can also say; “The center of universe, the source of cosmic romance and the core of our own selves; referred to as GURU or SACCHIDANANDA; “frees” us from the imprisonment in our ego; at appropriate times and absorbs us in Him (with ubiquitously benevolent side effects!); by way of prompting the NAMASMARAN.

STRESS CASTE AND VARNA -- DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Posted by on Thursday, 22nd March 2012
Much has been written about VARNA and CASTE system.
Even as BRAHMANA, KSHATRIYA, VAISHYA and SHOODRA as a communities; exist; and even as it is not easy to overcome our prejudices, preconceptions, grudges; we ought to realize that every individual has all four tendencies viz. BRAHAMANA, KSHATRIYA, VAISHYA and SHUDRA.
The BRAHMANA element predominantly embodies; vision, perspective and ideas, KSHATRIYA; courage and gallantry, VAISHYA; expertise to gather resources and SHOODRA; painstaking patient physical work that is put in.
We need to evolve all these qualities; according to our characteristic predisposition. We all need holistic perspective, thoughts, feelings, aspirations, conceptions, articulations, courage, expertise, physical steadfastness; according to our potentials.
Holistic politics, holistic economics, holistic education, holistic health, holistic medicine, holistic agriculture, holistic industries, holistic trades, holistic banking, holistic art and literature, holistic sports; have to be conceived. Their implementation has to be carried out meticulously with courage. This needs calculation of pros and cons for individual and global blossoming and employment of resources in appropriate manner. Lastly, all this requires unflinching dedication and steadfastness.
These are the hall marks of; healthy individual and society.
For this we need to nourish, vitalize, promote, regulate, coordinate, and harmonize the BRAHMANA, KSHATRIYA, VAISHYA and SHUDRA elements; inside and outside. This can be achieved through the great boon in the form of NAMASMARAN. It is the simplest and universally acceptable solution and would bring about the blossoming of one and all; as envisaged by Saint Dnyaneshwar; the cosmic consciousness personified.

STRESS AND BLACK MONEY DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Posted by on Thursday, 22nd March 2012
The governments all over the world keep on giving statistics; on the basis of their parameters; about the crimes and black money in different countries. The self styled social reformers amongst us; also make shallow and populist slogans against the crimes and black money for pampering their own inflated ego as “leaders”!
But sadly; we do not go the roots of crimes and black money. As a result we the common people keep getting disturbed and develop guilt complex and sense of lowliness and/or helplessness.
Should we not go to the roots of crimes and black money? Should we not stop getting bogged down by the smart and callous or the shallow and populist elements (inside and outside)?
If we do not go to the roots; then we would never understand; why the crimes and black money proliferate in a given society; and provide solution.
Let us understand that the degree of appropriateness of constitution and laws, determines the justice, peace and harmony in that nation. Similarly; the accuracy of government rules regarding the taxes; determine the compliance of people required to pay taxes.
But not merely the taxes; but the manner of expenditure of the taxes collected; decide the extent to which people would feel happy to pay taxes honestly and timely.
There may be exceptions to this observation and some people may be extraordinarily honest and some extraordinarily dishonest. But that itself proves the point for the vast majority.
The root of the black money is as follows:
One of the major causes of black money is the bitterness and disgruntlement; amongst majority of the people that they are being unduly coercively, unjustifiably robbed of their legitimate and hard earned money. They feel that they are being deceived.
This feeling grows because of the way the collected tax is misused and misappropriated.
Naturally this is followed by manipulations to hide money and evade tax and if we cannot evade (salaried people); we try to earn unlawfully; and hide it. This money stamped as black money!
Actually such black money is fairer than the money earned by; cheating, misguiding, swindling, stealing, exploiting, robbing, adulteration, extortion, bribing, and misappropriating tax money; and most importantly through making and twisting laws (or rules, statutes etc) to suit the vested interests; which is actually and really the darkest money!
Actually; our higher self is suppressed and tortured by our lower self. Our higher self is governed by our lower self. Hence we in government or in free enterprises; are ruled and dictated; by individualism, pettiness, superficiality, glamour, and glitter. We are overpowered by material pursuits (oblivious to the harm caused to others)!
The shallow and populist slogans against corruption and black money; are understandable; but we should not get enamored by them and instead; ought to go to the root of the problem if we want to get rid of it!
Thus; there is golden opportunity for us; to urgently and victoriously practice, teach, preach, sponsor and do whatever we can; to promote consolidation, and implementation of holistic perspective, policies, plans and programs; and conquer the dark rule of pettiness, superficiality, individualism, selfishness, corruption, crimes and the darkest money; outside and inside!

STRESS AND MUSK DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Posted by on Thursday, 22nd March 2012
Can the whirlwind know the direction of its velocity and acceleration?
Can the earthquake know its epicenter?
Can the earth know the direction of movement?
Can the body know the nature of inter-molecular forces?
Can the deer know the location of musk?
But all these don’t seem to be under stress!
Whereas we are under stress!
This is because; whereas we keep on darting intellectually, emotionally, instinctually and physically without knowing the destination; the destination itself viz. the core of individual and universal existence (our musk!) keeps on haunting us! This haunting; sparks the restlessness and stress!
The forms vary. The semantics vary. But the haunting is universal.
Since the stress is because of the haunting, which is often subconscious and we do not realize it; the solution is usually unknown to us.
Nothing is the world can manage our stress and nothing ever can calm our restlessness and anxiety, permanently.
The only solution to our stress; is; the process of our merger with our core (our musk!). It leads to pleasant beginning of the Total Stress Management; embodying simultaneous blossoming of us along with others. The haunting by the “musk” does not stop. But now onwards; it is absorbing, pleasant, romantic and fragrant!
The simplest and universally acceptable way for this; is NAMASMARAN.

STRESS & NISHKAMA KARMA DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Posted by on Thursday, 22nd March 2012
One of the enigmas of Geeta (Gita) philosophy is NISHKAMA KARMA, which means action without expectation of a particular result. This concept has caused wide spread confusion and stress!
How can we perhaps do anything without expectation of a result, when we see that everything is associated with a result; excepting perhaps involuntary actions and activities during sleep?
The following are some explanations.
1. If we focus on; or get obsessed by a particular result; or start “day dreaming” about it; then it can mar the procedural skills and concentration. Hence we have to do away with such obsession.
2. It is also true that we should not get involved in the result, because it can disappoint us if we don’t get the expected result. This is also fair and pragmatic and can protect us from imminent reactive depression or psychiatric maniacal elation.
3. The successes and failures; and the joy and grief respectively; are hallmarks of our subjectivity. Geeta teaches us to grow from subjectivity to be objectivity, where our actions and results cease to remain personal or subjective. Their credit or discredit are NOT ours! This is what happens when rise above the subjectivity completely. This is NISHKAMA KARMA!
4. Most actions are associated with results, their cause and effect relationship; do not follow a subjective logic. This is especially true of thinking, feelings, motivations, and missions etc, which are inexplicable in terms of their nature (physicochemical details), interactions, influence and effects. Their nature and results; can not be qualified or quantified by routine gauging and assessment.
5. In short; Geeta (Gita) inspires us to evolve our actions; from crudity, subjectivity and insistence on certain cause and effect relationships; to precision, skills and most importantly; quality of feelings involved viz. objectivity (total selflessness or complete merger of purpose with that of nature or God. In other words; to enlighten our action uniformly in its conceptualization, beginning, and end! This is what makes it free of any subjective reactivity to results!
6. From yet another angle; when our subjectivity dissolves into objectivity, the cosmic wisdom flows through our actions; hence as said earlier; we don’t own any patent right or credit or the onus of failures of such really evolved actions. One such absolutely evolved action is NAMASMARAN (remembering one’s true self). It is a UNIVERSALLY BENEVOLENT NISHKAMA KARMA!
7. From yet another angle; the “soul” or the very purpose of the actions is ISHWAR (God) and the result is MAYA (subjective perceptions)! Dwelling on result is forgetting the soul, the very purpose or ISHVAR (God) of action; and getting lost into MAYA.
