FASTS STRESS AND HOLISTIC RENAISSANCE DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
We keep fast on certain days or on certain occasions; as a part of our devotion to God, a part of rituals or for improving health.

Sometimes we refuse to eat or drink water; because we are angry or excited.

But these days we come across; people going on fast to protest against certain issues and/or insist on certain maters.

While no one can be; judgmental and/or object to the right of an individual to go on fast; fasting for pressing one’s subjective opinions and/or feelings towards certain issues (how much ever noble they may appear to be) has to be reviewed and reassessed.

Such fasting or self infliction does not emancipate us; from our slumber, lethargy, indolence, pettiness, superficiality, meekness and our over all weakness and helplessness. It does not release us; from sectarian and piecemeal activities and conflicts.

Rather than fasting; we better be holistic and evolve a consensus; on holistic solutions and their practice; at individual, local, national and global levels; and conquer of the stress (as well as participate in holistic renaissance) at all the levels!

HEAVEN ASTROLOGY AND SUPERLIVING DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
There are two main trends of ideological or philosophical literature, thoughts and perspective.

Thus; most spiritual writings emphasize on individual purification, righteousness, impeccability; and individual emancipation and liberation; with almost complete neglect towards the system; i.e. government, laws, rules etc.

Most socialistic and communistic writings insist on socioeconomic and sociopolitical change or revolution in the system; with almost no reference to individual blossoming.

The religions had aimed at; an orderly society; working according to the commandments or decrees in the scriptures; thus ensuring minimal conflicts of interests. The religions tried to combine the spiritual and material benevolence and harmony; in individual, family and social life.

We have to accept, love, respect; and maximally reconcile the essence of all these literatures; to overcome the rapidly deteriorating universal situations of stress!

Let us be clear; that heaven is a state of consciousness where we represent the blossoming of billions. Hell is the state of misery where we are shackled in the pursuit of petty and deceptive gains.

Various ideas such as; virtuous deeds, blessings of deities, gains in terms of mundane pleasures or heaven; and vices, sins, curses, losses, and misery of hell; represent bright and dark shades of life; rather than some supernatural factual realities.

The astrological methods of preparing horoscopes and forecasting the future of an individual and even nations; have access to only certain aspects of reality. They do not endow us with self realization; and can not emancipate us!

Thus; whether we believe or disbelieve in them; if we are petty; then we can not resolve the conflicts and/or contradictions in them; and can not arrive at solutions.

However; they can be easily reconciled and resolved; and we can arrive at holistic solutions; if we grow from within and identify how our welfare is linked with that of billions!

Let us realize that; any spiritual, astrological or ritualistic endeavor; without the perspective, policies, plans, programs and their implementation for holistic universal renaissance; and any socioeconomic or political theory of revolution; devoid of individual blossoming; palliative, useless or counterproductive.

We have to assert ourselves by sharing this evolution or blossoming of ours; if we want to conquer the stress and engender and enjoy the ambrosia of HOLISTIC RENAISSANCE i.e. SUPERLIVING.

BEING NAKED - DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
In Hindi there is one proverb; “Hamamme sab nange hote hai”. This means in public bathrooms; every one is naked.

We wear clothes, cover our bodies and try to ignore our basic, in born, physical attributes. We try to be oblivious to our primitive (natural) constitution. Moreover; through good clothes; we try to ignore poverty and feel rich!

We try to also cover our basal nature by assumptions. We try to assume that we are dispassionate, selfless, noble hearted, honest, and kindhearted; in fact; full of all majestic and heroic virtues.

The more we are adamant on covering ourselves; the more we become intolerant to ourselves and others and breed indiscriminate violence. Openness of every kind is opposed and coercively crushed in such situations.

But by merely enclosing and covering our bodies; in clothes (often glamorous and fashionable) and our basic instincts and emotional make up; in certain assumptions; we can not get rid of them; in actuality.

If we realize this; then we would become more tolerant and naturally; more loving. This is the merit of open society. But the indulgence and its mercenary glorification and consequent deterioration is the demerit.

If we are realistic, then we identify our physical, instinctual, emotional and intellectual attributes. Then we can work to evolve ourselves and others in appropriate manner.

Can we accept that we are slaves of our instincts, emotions and intellect? Can we accept that we also; are potentially primitive, barbaric, criminals, corrupt and mean? Can we accept that we also are ethnocentric? Can we accept that all that we hate and loathe; is potentially within us; and would spill over if the circumstances are conducive?

Can we accept that being “better” is not as simple and as instant; as merely changing clothes or washing make up? Can we admit that whenever we seem to have “improved”, we come across a situation that bares open our meanness?

Can we accept that we are unable to voluntarily blossom and become buoyant, generous? Can we admit that we are unable to love all?

Can we realize that no one can transform us (by appropriate punishment or through prayashchitta) into sublime, unprejudiced and innocent individuals; because “they themselves” are the helpless victims? (They can jail us, coax us to pay tax, pay donations, but can not inspire us to voluntarily stop exploiting! They can force us to behave in a gentle manner; but can not erase the sexual, infatuative, and other bizarre ideas, whims and fancies from our mind!)

Can we agree that for us to blossom, we have to create an environment of a holistic perspective of globally beneficial policies, plans, laws, rules, regulations, conventions and fashions, which in turn would be conducive to our blossoming?

Can we dare to bare ourselves from within and thereby be considerate to ourselves and others?

Tolerance born out of experience and honesty; would add accuracy and globally beneficial dimension to every thought, feeling and activity of ours!

Is this possible? This is certainly possible and ought to be achieved! But are we ready to be totally naked from within; and “see” ourselves? Are we ready to rise above our assumption, beliefs and disbeliefs; and verify this; through the practice of NAMASMARAN?

SUPERLIVING AN EXPLANATION DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
From time immemorial the life is seen to be associated with biological evolution and instinctual, emotional, intellectual and spiritual evolution.

Unlike the biological evolution in plants and animals, which is stereotyped, mankind is privileged with a gift of making choices; embodying instinctual, emotional, intellectual and spiritual evolution, which we call superliving, holistic health or total stress management.

But; since we can make choices;
1. In every nook and corner of the world, right from early childhood to ripe old age, in every season, at every moment, on every occasion and amidst every relationship; we are entangled in unending dilemmas. We have to make choices from “right and wrong” options. These options are in terms of physical, instinctual, emotional and intellectual actions; in different fields of life such as personal relations, personal defense, international relations, military defense, health care, judiciary, education, trade, industry, agriculture, crafts, literature, architecture, arts and so on.
2. These choices can not be made from popular simplistic dictates. The utopian, egalitarian, gullible and/or hypocritical concepts and preaching of indiscriminate equality, love, service, nonviolence, peace etc. do stand the harsh tests of reality of life. They do not enable or empower us to make right choices and consequently we get trapped in conflicts and/or exploitation. This would be clear from the following examples.
3. The often preached unqualified equality has no place in society. Its insistence is either because of political opportunism, vested interests, hypocrisy or utopianism. The father, mother, son, wife, teacher, student etc are not equal. They are not unequal also. They are; and they ought to be; in different, varying, symbiotic, complementary, synergistic and mutually beneficial positions. Hence neither equality nor inequality; but complementarity has to be nurtured and harnessed. The love as advocated is subjective (as against objective and universally benevolent feelings of love). Subjective love can lead to prejudice, bias, preference, partiality, fear, apprehension, inhibition, favoritism and so on. It has no place in judgment (which requires balanced mind) that convicts a criminal. The indiscriminate service also; has no basis when we are faced with an exploiter. Because; our services would further propagate and perpetuate exploitation. Similarly; the gullible peace has no relevance when we are being confronted by universal disaster created by a war monger. Gullible moves of peace would certainly endanger the life of millions; through imposed war. In the same vein; the indiscriminate and often hypocritical nonviolence has no meaning when we are being battered by the menace such as that of mosquitoes or rabid dogs, which we have to kill.
4. The philosophies, ideologies and religions and even the constitutions of united nations have been and continue to provide concepts, ideas, decrees and commandments and laws; respectively. These are intended to help individuals and masses; of both sexes, all races, all ages, all seasons and from all areas of the world; to make right choices. In turn these choices are meant for living healthily, harmoniously and happily so as to blossom and at all times!
5. Amongst these; probably the most misunderstood, neglected, ridiculed and often maligned; are the scriptures of India (Bharat), which are actually based on self realization and aimed to culminate in self realization and bring about individual and universal blossoming. These provide holistic, universal and pragmatic solutions and practical measures in every imaginable field of life and death; with a clear vision of self realization and global emancipation. These are truly the expressions of the cosmic wisdom itself.
6. They have evolved and transformed the previously mentioned simplistic concepts of arbitrary and indiscriminate equality-inequality, love-hatred, mercy-meekness, service-exploitation, nonviolence-violence, peace-war etc; into enlightened, objective, universal perspective, accurate thinking, appropriate feelings and genuinely humane instincts. They thus have crystallized and articulated universally benevolent and cogent concepts of complementarity, unity, harmony, swadharma, universal justice, and appropriate pertinent behavior; organized into sacrosanct personal duties or dharmas; of e.g. father (pitru dharma), son (putra dharma), mother (matru dharma), teacher (acharya dharma), ruler (raj dharma) and so on. Moreover these sacrosanct duties were (and are even today in some places) followed with topmost priorities as privilege and golden opportunities; and not compulsions. They have been commanding (and command even today in some places) respect and reverence for millennia.
7. We must differentiate these universally benevolent concepts and behavioral trends from the simplistic and unwise preachings of indiscriminate service-exploitation, love-hatred, equality-inequality, peace-war, violence-non-violence etc. which are basically the products of superficial and piecemeal approaches.
8. The details in these scriptures however; require modifications; with due insight in them and without changing the essence, foundation, basis and/or purpose. Because the nature, life and mankind require their enlightenment, holistic conceptual framework as well as the practical means, which enable and empower to make right choices, attain self realization and achieve individual and universal blossoming.
9. This is superliving. It is a universal, eternal, continuous, unending, healing, rejuvenating, revitalizing and fulfilling expedition. From another angle; superliving is a cosmic wisdom manifested from time to time in the people of the world expressed in new and relevant ways by and for the people of the world. It embodies increase in the percentage of making right choices, through holistic perspective, thinking, feelings and instincts, in every walk of life; and blossom together.
10. This particular participation in superliving is purposefully not institutionalized; because it can not be restricted by any arbitrary laws, rules and regulations of an institution or organization. Moreover it is universal and can not be “split” or “reduced” into any smaller or trivial identity of an organization. In addition; it is an on going eternal process and does not depend on any favors, mercy, donations and/or tax exemptions; and has never been and would never be subservient to personal or sectarian interests of any king, ruler, party or any other entity.
11. Actually, cosmic light has manifested as has been in the past; in the form of superliving and its core viz. namasmaran; to be an integral part of life in general; and of the formal and informal education in particular; all over the world. This phenomenon is bound to expedite the process of individual and global blossoming, enlightenment and emancipation.

BEAUTIFUL LIFE -- DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
We may call it intuition, sixth sense, divine guidance, spell of good power, divine love or anything. It is beyond our logic and sometimes even against our logical arguments. One is tempted to hypothesize existence of “super autonomic nervous system” that is differently and vaguely described as residing in the right cerebral hemisphere of right handed people and in charge of non sequential thinking, appreciation of poetry, holistic perception and so on. In my view this vaguely described functional complex which I refer to as super autonomic nervous system resides well spread in several silent areas such as those of prefrontal cortex.

But the purpose of this article is not merely to indicate this possibility; but to visualize the culmination; of the vast panorama of knowledge; in the form of various arts (including martial arts and arsenals), sports, literature, science, technology, religions, ethics, rituals, laws etc and overall accomplishments of mankind. Let us visualize and remind ourselves and reiterate repeatedly that the purpose and the culmination of all the accomplishments of mankind is self realization (which may be tangible in future; in terms of evolution of super autonomic nervous system). We, the people of world (irrespective of religions, races, and nationalities) have to keep on organizing, reorganizing, orienting and reorienting our accomplishments in the direction of this self realization.

While the instincts of not merely survival, but racial, religious, ideological, cultural, economic and political supremacy are natural and understandable; they are undoubtedly the obstacles in individual and global blossoming. The indiscriminate violence and rabid propaganda for one’s racial, religious, ideological, cultural, economic and political supremacy are counterproductive and self defeating.

Let us realize that we are blessed to participate in the real and most urgent expedition of conquering the basal nature of ourselves, which prevents us from self realization (being truly nonviolent, happy and in evolved state of living that preempts our pettiness and superficiality)! We are really fortunate to have the potential to acquire such a state of living! Even as there are many ways prescribed by many for such evolved living; the simplest and universal one is NAMASMARAN, which need not be believed, but verified.

Practicing, preaching, writing, publishing, broadcasting, sponsoring, talking, sharing; in fact; doing whatever we can to promote NAMASMARAN (and other activities and programs in respective fields conducive to NAMASMARAN and self realization) ensures and ensues individual and global blossoming).
