STRESS
AND
CAREER
DR.
SHRINIWAS
KASHALIKAR
When we are children we often cherish dreams of being somebody great in terms of being wealthy, powerful, glamorous, popular, and respectable and so on, based on our concepts of progress.
Actually our concepts are distorted and perverted in the whirlwind of superficiality, glamour and glitter! This has leaded us to virulent, infectious and suicidal pursuit of lucrative careers. This pursuit in turn; has resulted into rabid competitions embodying; such violent conflicts such as; pro reservation vs. anti reservation, pro privatization vs. anti privatization, pro donations vs. anti donations, legal procedures vs. illegal tactics, fair means vs. unfair means; and even pro corruption vs. anti corruption for grabbing careers, which give “license to amass wealth and power irrespective of the welfare of others and often at the cost of others”.
The basic fault lies in not realizing the fact that the progress actually means simultaneous blossoming of an individual and the society.
The political, economic and other powers, the literary merits, artistic excellence, the professional expertise, the technical skills, the intellectual competence; all have to subserve this basic theme or core of progress viz. simultaneous blossoming of an individual and the universe; or else; all these facades of “excellence”; nurture and promote indiscriminate conflicts and violence, which is what is happening today.
If we; the policy makers, educationists, teachers, parents, go closer to our heart and our conscience; then we would work for holistic education and ensure blossoming of one and all. If we are children; and go closer to our heart and our conscience; then we would be able to choose and work in a correct field to the best of our satisfaction; ensuring blossoming of one and all!
The way to go to our innate core; i.e. our selves; or our heart; or our conscience; is NAMASMARAN.
Let us take this opportunity to practice NAMASMARAN as a matter of topmost priority; and learn to reach our own conscience at the earliest and achieve the goal of blossoming of individual and the universe. This is also referred to as

STRESS AND JUSTICE

STRESS
AND
JUSTICE
DR.
SHRINIWAS
KASHALIKAR
Some times we feel that God would do justice and at other times we feel we should do justice.
But in both cases; the feeling is impulsive. The modus operandi is not clear. The mechanism is not clear. The details are not clear. There is an ad hoc, piecemeal and superficial approach and fragmented and ineffective solutions to the problems.
When we practice NAMASMARAN we gradually go deeper within ourselves; and find that we are potentially as sinful or virtuous; as anyone else in the world and the corrective measures for bringing the people to justice; are no different than those urgently required for us.
Hence; if we stop being impatient to be judgmental and bring the others to justice; before trying to heal and rectify priority basis; then our stress would begin to disappear.
In other words; if we practice NAMASMARAN and assert our true self; so as to evolve and share globally beneficial perspective, plans and policies to usher in justice; rather than waiting desperately for God or for the others to do so; we would surely conquer the stress!
This is how through NAMASMARAN we concur with our true self i.e. God in engendering justice in the world. Our beliefs of “imaginary God bringing about justice” can at the most stupefy us in fools’ paradise; and our belief of “our own petty self bringing about justice”; can at the most intoxicate us with sterile excitement.

STRESS
AND
HOLISTIC MEDICINE
DR.SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
The stress is unavoidable turbulence within us. One of the factors leading to such stress or turbulence in us; is non- availability of holistic medical assessment, investigations and treatment under one roof. The only way to manage this kind of stress is international and national policy of adopting holistic medicine in mainstream medical education, training, practice and research.
Our stress would certainly be managed if we actually witness development of medical institutions, which would engage in teaching, training, practice and research of holistic medicine and holistic health care.
The most essential and the core aspect (and also the asset) of these institutions would be that; everyone involved in them would be encouraged to practice NMAMSMARAN. The practice of NAMASMARAN could vary as per one’s religious beliefs.
Second characteristic would be encouragement to practice of PRANAYAMA.
The third feature would be encouragement of vegetarianism. The food served on campus to the patients and the staff members; would be strictly vegetarian and would include green vegetable, fruits, roots, tubers, different grains, spouted beans, and different variety of nuts, different oils, cow milk and plenty of drinking water.
There would be plantations of herbs such as tulsi, neem, bel, kmari, gulvel, aghada, putrajeevak, shivalingi, kadamba, lemon grass, pudina, jaswandi, pipal, banyan etc and other edible fruits and vegetables also.
There would be quotes, portraits, photos, paintings, specimens, murals of (from Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy; of scientists, instruments, techniques, herbs etc), which would empower, inspire and motivate the patients, the students the staff members for working together to blossom one another!
The curriculum would include compulsory introductory course as a foundation in which holistic approach, holistic medicine, holistic health are introduced and explained; so as to inculcate the unity amidst apparent diversity of people as well as medical systems, so as to enable everyone to appreciate the contribution of every walk of life and every system of medicine in contributing to holistic health.
The OPD and IN DOOR treatment would be in consultation with the experts from different systems of medicine, in as much as experts from the different specialties. Different modalities of treatment (under the supervision and control of experts) such as yoga, pranayama, panchakarma, shatkarma, naturopathy; besides; physiotherapy, intensive care, surgery and rehabilitation would be available.
There would be a team of doctors to advise the local, state and central governments; on designing and implementing policies in different fields such as agriculture, industries, education, information and broadcasting; and so on; for achieving holistic health, on routine basis as well as during critical periods such as endemics, epidemics and pandemics.

STRESS AND IDENTITY
Posted by on Saturday, 31st July 2010
It is very true that we dream to be somebody; in terms of a certain profession or occupation. Sometimes we become so and sometimes we don’t. Subsequently; we try to project ourselves as someone and people accept or take us as someone, the two either matching or otherwise!
The realized dream; our projection and the public appraisal however; never give complete satisfaction and fulfillment. This is what causes stress.
What is the reason for this?
The reason for such stress is that our dreams never match the majesty of our true nature or our true self, which is infinite and immortal. Our own appraisal and projections even if bloated and hyped; also do not match the grandeur of our true self. Lastly, the public opinion or what we perceive as public opinion; also do not match the sublime character of our true self.
In other words, there is underestimation in our dreams, our own appraisal, our projections and the actual or perceived public opinions. This is so; even if we are approved and branded as “successful”; by ourselves and the others.
This is why even if we are “achievers” and have achieved extraordinary “success”; are often hollow from within and deeply melancholic. Even if we are towering personalities having achieved enormously; often land up in various symptoms of frustration and depression in terms of addictions, crimes, perversions and/or suicides.
We have to introspect and assess our so called successes or failures in this light and reach the core of our self, which is infinite and imperishable source of bliss.
But how is this possible?
It is said by the enlightened seers; that this is possible through NAMASMARAN.

Stress

The news on tv showing; significant increase in mental illness due to poverty, unemployment and cut throat competition; should be an eye opener for all of us in the world.
My books related to total stress management written about15 to 35 years ago and even my speech during my internship in miraj; had emphasized the socioeconomic causes of physical and mental illness and are more than validated by this news. My views were then; ridiculed, humiliated, neglected, suppressed and at best; appreciated with mere lip sympathy, wry smile and ice cold response of zero cooperation.
My views ; more than endorsed by this news and its corollary; insist that we can never succeed in total stress management; without participating in the socioeconomic, political and other issues influencing our lives. We may or may not join a political party or an organization, but we have to assert our conscience, enlightenment, objective consciousness that is. Innate core of true self; for successful total stress management; firmly. All those (so called spiritual leaders and so called stress management professionals and so called yoga teachers); who are trying to advocate “merely personal stress management” and all those (political leaders); who are trying to solve social problems; through their ad hoc, petty and or callous politics; are bound to fail miserably.
Thus; the number of so called spiritual leaders and political leaders; being exposed and brought to justice is bound to increase exponentially!
The maharashtra government (and probably many governments in the world) is adopting alcohol promotion policies which ensure mass suicide or even worse than suicide! We all; if we witness these steps of government passively; then suffer miserably and exponentially; due to being party to the sin of passing on this legacy to the posterity! But this will not happen!
Such policies; responsible for the suffering of generations after generations; would be averted by the rising global consciousness.
Namasmaran that is. Reorientation to cosmic consciousness has to be the goal, the purpose, the core and the basis of every policy including the rejection of alcohol production. But mere opposition to alcohol without channelizing our vitality to cosmic self through namasmaran; can lead to defeat, frustration and many socio psychiatric and socio-pathological evils!
Let us understand that we can not appreciate certain convictions, unless we have been sufficiently evolved and become reasonably objective. Thus if alcohol is our weakness, then we can not appreciate and support the opposition to alcohol production; even if it is destructive to us and the society! This is what causes innate conflicts and stress!
Conquering these conflicts and stress; is difficult but inevitable! So, let us not be desperate and violent to others and or to ourselves! Let us simply practice and propagate namasmaran, assert our convictions, and experience the inner and outer revolution and individual and global blossoming!
Many adjuvant measures can be useful in conquering from time to time and in different situations; but can never replace namasmaran!
