GOOD MORNING: TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT: DR. SHRINIWAS
KASHALIKAR
According to some, the time from 2.30 a.m. to the sunrise and according to some, the period of two hours before the sunrise constitute BRAHMAMUHURTA.
As the name suggests this time is the best time for conceiving, understanding, experiencing or merging with BRAHMA, the eternal truth, the eternal purity and the eternal bliss. This is the time of liberation from the shackles of every kind.
This is not a matter of belief but of experience; for those; who have experienced the joy of getting up at this time!
There is a Sanskrit shloka [verse], which depicts the sub-classification of this enchanting period.
PANCHA, PANCHA USHAHKAALA SAPTAPANCHAARUNODAYA
ASHTAPANCHA BHAVET PRAATAH SHESHA SURYODAYO MATAH
It means:
55 GHATIKA after the sunrise of previous day the USHAH KAALA the time of USHAA begins. After 57 GHATIKA, the time of ARUNODAYA and after 58 GHATIKA; the time of PRAATAH begins. The sunrise is SURYODAYA.
The day is constituted of 60 GHATIKA. GHATIKA is approximately equivalent to 24 minutes.
With the grace of God we are alive and see this beautiful sunrise and a chance of self realization. Hence it is most important to remember the name of God in the morning. Secondly, due to the grace of mother earth the fortune is granted to us to walk on her body through out the day. So; there is a tradition to be grateful (and express our gratitude in prayer as given below); to her before we start our day. This wisdom of wisdom; helps us to unite with the BRAHMA; of which we and the whole universe are extension. We are empowered by the Brahma and supported by various forces in the universe. This practice of expressing gratitude in morning makes us humble and environment-friendly!
The prayer is as follows:
SAMUDRAVASANE DEVI PARVATASTANAMANDALE
VISHNUPATNIM NAMASTUBHYAM PADASPARSHAM KSHAMASVA ME
The meaning is:
Oh goddess earth, who is clad in the beautiful attire of oceans and the mountains are whose bosoms and who is the wife of Lord Vishnu, I offer my grateful salutations to you and ask for forgiveness as I put my feet on you [touch you with my feet].
This prayer orients us appropriately in such a way that it opens up our hearts to the glorious bounties of earth and her love towards us. It starts nourishing us as well as gives us the perspective of loving our mother earth, which is so much essential for awakening our responsibilities towards her.
Then we pray
KARAGRE VASATE LAXMI KARAMADHYE SARASVATI
KARAMULE TU GOVINDAM PRABHATE KARADARSHANAM
The meaning is:
At the tips of the hand there stays Laxmi the goddess of prosperity
At the middle stays the goddess of knowledge Sarasvati
At the root of the hands stays Lord Govinda i.e. Lord Vishnu
Hence we watch our hands with reverence!
This is such a wonderful prayer! It helps us to reveal and establish the connections between the deities, which are the sources of our power. It helps us explore the potentials of prosperity, profundity and fulfillment in our life and thereby helps us develop respect for ourselves. Such respect as you know is essential for taking due care of our body while simultaneously directing it to do things in life which would help us in gaining holistic health.
There is one more and simple prayer in SHUKLA YAJURVEDA. It is as follows.
BAHU ME BALAMINDRIYAM HASTAU KARMA VEERYAM
AATMA KSHATRAMURO BHAVA
I pray that my arms and my all organs be strong and my soul and my heart be the healers.
SHUKLA YAJURVEDA 20.7.
This is real good morning and beginning the day with such a good morning is the beginning of total stress management! It is as if we have inhaled the healing spirit from the universe and are ready to heal and blossom ourselves and the others; throughout the day!

ROMANCE AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

ROMANCE AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Many times I used to confuse between; ideology, philosophy, spiritualism, religion, asceticism, austerity, penance, rituals, mysticism, occultism and so on. Somehow they used to appear contraposed to epicurean or hedonist way of life. They used to appear rather too serious for a common person like me. Why these matters; even the curricular subjects such as science, mathematics, geography, history and languages also appeared arbitrary and cut off from the day to day life. In medical career this feeling was further enhanced by the medical subjects!
Now I realize that my feeling was because of missing the essence of these subjects!
The essence of all these subjects is inevitably and inseparably linked with life! In fact; the core of these subjects takes us to the core of life and vice versa!
Exactly in the same way; NAMASMARAN appeared to be meant for ascetic or retired and weak senior citizens!
But now it is clear that NAMASMARAN is a lifelong and joyous evolutionary transformation; that gradually blossoms us; from within. It makes us objective as it reduces the subjective considerations. We learn to accept, love and respect others; unconditionally!
NAMASMARAN thus makes every moment and every relationship in our life; far more lively, romantic and actually immortal!!

SEX AND HAPPINESS: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

SEX AND HAPPINESS: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
The intense remembrance, affinity, and the acute desire of coming together is a common experience with opposite sexes.
The obsession to come together, the actual union and the memories of the union of opposite sexes; are pleasant and poetic.
But; somehow; these are seldom associated with permanent fulfillment. In fact; in spite of indulgence in sex; there is a vacuum and/or dissatisfaction in life.
As a result; in spite of coming together happily in every way; there is lack of peace, frustration, suffocation, or separation and divorces.
The question therefore is; “whether sexual gratification per se; leads to total fulfillment in life, or it is cursed with the burning feeling of incompletion; as the essence of sex is missed in active sexual life; due to lack of NAMASMARAN?”
The answer can be explored by introspection and actual practice of NAMASMARAN itself; and not by mere discussions or superficial conjectures.
BUT WHAT IS NAMASMARAN?
Namasmaran means; remembering the name of God, Guru, great souls; such as prophets and holy objects such as planets and stars. It may be remembered silently, loudly, along with music, dance, along with breathing, in group or alone, either with counting by rosary (called SMARANI or JAPAMALA) or without counting. The traditions vary from region to region and from religion to religion.
However the universal principle underlying NAMASMARAN is to reorient your physiological being with your true self. In fact while reorienting with true self you aim to establish and strengthen the bond or connection; between; your physiological being; with your true self. You aim at reunification with yourself!
Since remembering your true self is the pinnacle of or culmination of individual consciousness and individual consciousness is the culmination of every activity in life, remembering any name of God or Guru (any symbol of your true self) is equivalent to opening the final common pathway for the individual consciousness associated with every possible activity to get funneled into or unified with objective or cosmic consciousness.
Thus NAMASMARAN is in fact the YOGA of YOGA in the sense that it is the culmination of consciousness associated with every possible procedure and technique in the yoga that you are familiar with. It is the
YOGA of YOGA because it is the culmination of consciousness associated with all the activities in the universe, which it encompasses as well! It is YOGA of YOGA because everybody in the world irrespective of his/her tradition and the beliefs; would eventually, ultimately and naturally reach it; in the process of liberation. Even so called non believers also would not “miss” the “benefit of remembering the true self through one symbol or another”!
Just as NAMASMARAN is YOGA of YOGA it is meditation of meditation also! It is the natural and ultimate climax of every form of meditation.
These facts however have to be realized with persistent practice of NAMSMARAN and not blindly believed or blindly disbelieved with casual approach!
In short NAMSMARAN is super-bounty of cosmic consciousness for every individual to realize it (cosmic consciousness)! This is truly a super-bounty because a person, who experiences it, rises above mercenary, commercial and even professional and charity planes and manifest super-transactions in his or her life!
These are just few observations to give rough idea about what is NAMASMARAN. NAMASMARAN is an ocean of bliss. Its true meaning is beyond description in words and has to b experienced, most preferably, by billions!

STRESS, SCIENCE AND CONSCIENCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

STRESS, SCIENCE AND CONSCIENCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
The stress and its manifestations in the world are due to the shearing forces of physical needs, natural instincts, emotions and intelligence; within an individual and society.
This stress has been there since time immemorial and was contained to some extent through the conventions, traditions, etiquettes, commandments, decrees, rituals, festivals etc.; evolved through consensus.
It was also contained through the education, which nurtured the process of appreciation and realization in everyday life; of the unity of true self and the intellectual, emotional, instinctual and productive (cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains) capabilities and aptitudes of an individual.
Thus the education guided the students to grasp and acquire the holistic perspective and its expression in day to day life for individual and global blossoming.
Today the education is; individualistic, petty, fragmented, sectarian, reductionist and hence divisive perspective and way of life. We in turn; become the victims of the divisive, disintegrative, individualistic, petty perspective; and the forces fission; which destroy global unity, harmony and blossoming; apart from our own peace.
In such a situation; it is essential to include the theory and practice of NAMASMARAN in all the syllabi, so that holistic perspective and forces of fusion, unification, harmonizing and blossoming at individual and global levels; can once again be consolidated and rejuvenated!
NAMASMARAN revitalizes the process of re-integration; in education, politics, industry, agriculture, business, arts, literature, health care, and especially the science and technology; with the true self; and its expression in what we learn, teach, plan, administer, research, practice and propagate; and ensure individual and global blossoming!

NEEDS AND DESIRES: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

NEEDS AND DESIRES: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
Some of us; advocate indiscriminate suppression of desires; while the others uphold indiscriminate fulfillment of all desires!
70 billion people and innumerable animals and plants; have different instinctual, emotional, intellectual, psychomotor and creative needs. The irresponsible and indiscriminate suppression or gratification of these; has lead to universal stress at all levels in the form of poverty, hunger, deforestation, famines, global heating, on the one hand and corruption, indulgence, addictions, terrorism, persecution, riots and wars on the other.
We should not be obsessed by the idea of destroying the shad-ripus (six enemies); termed viz. KAMA, KRODHA, MOHA, MAD MATSAR and LOBHA. Conversely we should not advocate indiscriminate indulgence in these.
We should concede the fact that there ought not to be a regimentalization. The needs have to be differentiated from the desires, whims or fancies. The biological needs; of the fetus, newborn babies, infants, toddlers, children, youths, pregnant mothers, and the elderly, which are variable; must be optimally fulfilled.
The tangible culmination of seeking the truth; is holistic renaissance, superliving or Total Stress Management, i.e. holistic perspective, policies, plans and programs, which aim to optimally fulfill all the needs, while simultaneously promoting the blossoming of the individuals.
This is why; we must incorporate NAMASMARAN, in all the educational courses; as it orients us to our true self; and sublime duty (SWADHARMA); at different stages and in every walk of life.
In absence of this; both; our “materialism” as well as “spiritualism”; perpetuate pursuits of subsidy, profits, success in examination, promotion; or trance, bliss, ecstasy, moksha, mukti, nirvana; respectively and we continue to feel incomplete, restless, frustrated, depressed, weak and helpless in personal and social life and perpetuate vicious cycle of universal stress.
The best example is; we the people of world; who boast on their material and spiritual heritage; who have vast majority living in abysmal conditions, either by delirious choice or by ignorant compulsion.
