Hey fellow medical practitioners next week is being observed as autism awareness week the world over...i just want to remind the medical fraternity that please be sensitive and observant towards children with autism..because most end up being labelled as downs syndrome ,mentally retarded ,child hood psychosis, learning disorders or deaf dumb etc.The parents are already confused and many of us add to their confusion giving diverse opinions and advice to them.if you notice a child with defective communication ,lack of eye contact..difficulty in speaking,having accentric interest,not mingling with other children ,staying alloof in his own world ..he might be a child with one of autistic spectrum disorder.I would request you all to be a bit sensitive and guide parents in the right direction,because the direction you give may change the direction of the childs life ........
