The Delhi Medical Council (DMC) Registrar Dr.Girish Tyagi has underlined that allopathy practitioners should not  prescribe ayurvedic drugs. The Council has cited Section 30 of the Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad Act, 1998, and said ‘crosspathy’ is punishable under the law.

The notification came as it was found that many allopathic doctors even specialist and super specialist write many Ayurvedic medicines in their prescriptions probably as medical representative of different ayush companies meet them and push for writing their products, for hepatitis or liver problem, for post menopausal woman, for antibiotic in Ebt ,for dementia and for urinary problems usually mand ayurvedic medicines are written whose compositions are extract from herbal compound not biochemical compond as seen in modern pharmaceuticals ,as they have no training in that so according to Supreme Court no body trained in that pathy cant write product of that pathy.

Dr Girish Taygi quoted that The notification issued mentions that, ‘Ayurvedic drugs like LIV52, Cystone, Septilin, M2 Tone, Amlycure Ds, Neeri, Amycordial etc.’ The council has also come up with such directives in the past too but still practitioners are committing same mistake. He further added that The provision of the Delhi Bharatiya Chikitsa Parishad Act states, “false assumption of medical practitioner under this Act to be an offence. Any person who falsely improvises that he is a practitioner, and practises Bharatiya Chikitsa (Indian System of Medicine), shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment of up to three years and a fine of up to Rs 50,000.”

Dr G S Grewal Secretary of IMA Delhi and former official at DMC said, “Some of the doctors were found to be prescribing ayurvedic drugs and so we have come up with this circular. We are also setting up a team of doctors who will keep a check if any doctor is prescribing such drug.”

This notice is not for delhi only but all medical council will follow suit it as it is an order of supreme Court so all doctors should follow it,even doctors should see that in their different annual meet and scientific contin

ue education programme these ayush companies donot advertise or visit them in their clinic or hospital otherwise such trend will continue and if any active patient takes this prescription to court Doctor will face the punishment as stated.
