FOUNDER CHAIRMAN OF MPUH AND MPSRNU,

SHRI JAYARAMDAS PATEL, PASSES AWAY

 

Shri Jayaramdas Patel, the founder Chairman of internationally renowned Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (MPUH) and Muljibhai Patel Society for Research in Nephro-Urology (MPSRNU) at Nadiad passed away on Sunday, 9th May 2010.  He was 94.

 

Jayaramdas Patel was a visionary philanthropist whose support, encouragement and guidance were the primary reasons for the Institute getting to be an international center of excellence. Since its inception in 1978, Jayaramdas Patel not only lend monetary support but was deeply involved in the day to day activities and expansion of the hospital. His keen interest in academics and education resulted in the creation of Jayaramdas Patel Academic Center (JPAC).

 

Shri Jayaramdas Patel was a very well respected Industrialist in Gujarat. He was also the founder Chairman of J.M. Patel group of companies. Government of Gujarat appointed Mr. Patel as the Chairman of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). He held this position from 1982 to 1986. Mr. Patel was also a Director on the Board of Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation Ltd. He was a member of the State advisory council for industries constituted by the Government of Gujarat.

 

Shri Jayaramdas Patel was a Member of the Managing Committee of the Indian Merchant’s Chamber for over two decades. He was a Member of the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee, Western Railway. He was the past President of Western India Automobile Association, Paper Traders Association, Bombay Master Printers Association, Gujarat Industries Association etc.

 

Shri Jayaramdas Patel was the founder Chairman of M.K.Patel School at Nadiad run by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

 

Shri Jayaramdas Patel enjoyed an enviable position in the business world by virtue of his dynamic and progressive outlook.

 

He is survived by his wife Vimlaben, Son Rohitbhai and daughter Renuben.
