HOLISTIC LEADERSHIP: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
HOLISTIC LEADERSHIP: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Today; we are leaders for namesake. Actually we are the helpless prisoners; shackled in our drawbacks, deficiencies, degeneration, disease; and deterioration. We are victims; of the morbidity inside and outside, which we keep on surrendering to; and spreading knowingly or unknowingly to our family, our working places and our society; and pave a way of; all encompassing destruction!

We and our stooges; get spiritually destroyed through economic abundance; associated with spiritual antipathy and degeneration; and ensure the destruction of people through economic scarcity; associated with spiritual apathy and debility.

Even as we boast of the vain glory of our hollow leadership; we are actually beggars and seekers.

Our mediocrity and/or idiosyncrasies sometimes match with those of millions and culminate in mass mania. As a result; many mass movements, riots and even civil wars erupt! The tragedy is that these violent outbursts nurture the mediocrity and/or vested interests; of us and our followers”!

Let us understand that natural differences in color and character; features and appearances; qualities and peculiarities; and limitations and potentials as such; are harmless and are part of human civilization. But these same; when generate pride and prejudice; and subsequent exploitation, imposition, pressurization, suppression, cheating etc; they become obstacles in the way of evolution of and practice of holistic perspective and holistic leadership.

Our sectarian perspective leads to consolidation of petty identities such as color, race, region, history, religion, language; based on petty interests; and divide and tear apart the world violently; in pieces.

Holistic leadership must have a vision of underlying global unity amidst the apparent diversity. It must also have the perspective and appreciation of the innate and inherent complementarity amidst the apparent contradictions and controversies.

Such leadership would inspire and initiate; the marshalling and utilization of the human resources for the Conscious Evolutionary Transformation, implying; holistic health, holistic renaissance, superliving and total stress management.

The terms; ‘welfare’, ‘progress’, ‘development’, ‘advances’, ‘modernization’ etc, do not embody the holistic meaning and content; in holistic health, holistic renaissance, total stress management and superliving!

We can be holistic leaders in our respective fields; if:

1. We prefer to grow beyond our biological potentials, by choice; and NOT out of compulsion, through NAMASMARAN; as it is the greatest of all gains!

2. We recognize our innate urges or the calling of our soul; and live according to “these innate urges” matching with those of billions (called “Vishvache Arta” in Marathi).

3. We inspire our religious culture, economic culture, political culture, health culture, agriculture, and even our news culture with holistic approach

HOLISTIC RENAISSANCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
HOLISTIC RENAISSANCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Holistic renaissance is the development of perspective, policies, plans, programs and implementation; of these for individual and global blossoming. It appears that this is what Geeta implies; by DHARMYA YUDDHA (life struggle) and the imminent victory of our divine nature; irrespective of whether we support it or oppose!

The body systems, machines, industries, institutions, organizations, state machineries, nations, and universe; would be empowered and channeled in the realization of absolute consciousness i.e. individual and universal blossoming.

The instincts such as physical activity, locomotion, urination, defecation, cleanliness, hunger, thirst, safety, sexual desire, parental care; and emotional needs such as friendship, dialogue, expression of conscience; would be totally fulfilled to culminate in individual and global blossoming.

There would be spiritual, creative, productive, psychomotor, affective and cognitive efforts; of self empowerment, self sufficiency, self esteem; consumption of healthy vegetarian food would, use of holistic medicine for holistic healing and promotion of for holistic health; and dissolution of spiritual, material; theist, atheist; and superstitious, rationalist ideas in NAMASMARAN.

MAYA, SIDDHI, STRESS AND TECHNOLOGY: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
MAYA, SIDDHI, STRESS AND TECHNOLOGY: DR. SHRINIWAS
KASHALIKAR

Technology has made many things, thought to be impossible in the past; easily possible!

In common language these technological feats could be conceived and appreciated as extraordinary achievements. In spiritual tradition such achievements (though through different means and ways) are called SIDDHIS.

ADWAITA philosophy refers to the internal and external universe as MAYA or MITHYA, to indicate and convey its changing, fleeting and hence deceptive nature. I conceive MAYA as relative reality as distinguished from absolute.

Technology validates this perspective in many ways.

It is through technology (modern siddhis) that we realize that; on the one hand; what we ‘see as reality’ in the immediate vicinity with naked eyes; is only ‘apparent’; what we ‘don’t see’ e.g. electromagnetic radiations is a ‘reality, which is not apparent’.

The transmission of news on the news channels of electronic media; validates with great impact, that every situation, every person, every success or failure and every moment, are ephemeral, transient and fleeting!

The internet highlights the fact, which is not appreciable to otherwise intelligent mind; that millions of people are reading and thinking about what is uploaded; and millions of people are engaged in different activities beneficial or harmful to mankind.

It is however necessary to appreciate; that whatever is apparent through technology is also fleeting and superficial. In other words, it is also; relative reality and not absolute!

In fact, my hypothesis is; technology can create; illusions, delusions, hallucinatory effects; leading to pleasant and unpleasant feelings, elation and depression and also schizoid and multiple personality like behavior. This is due to the larger than life and hence unrealistic presentation of movies, serials, reality shows, advertisements and even news and other reports!

The technological feats (siddhis) thus can unveil the maya on the one hand and create far more illusory, deceptive and destructive “replications of MAYA” on the other!

What is absolute?

We find ultimate culmination of our life in the absolute or cosmic consciousness. It is in this cosmic consciousness that we experience the ultimate of bliss, peace, and harmony; and the way to this “absolute” is NAMASMRAN! We should not believe, disbelieve, accept or discard this; blindly; but verify this conviction; on the basis of extensive study, discussion, contemplation and most importantly, the practice!

MARATHI, MAHATMA GANDHI AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
MARATHI, MAHATMA GANDHI AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Some leaders (from different fields) have mistaken identity. Mistaken identity is identity other than that of a human being. They identify themselves; with region and language; e.g. Marathi Asmita (pride), Marathi Manoos (person), and Marathi Bhasha (language)!

Their sectarian opponents with equally petty identity and partisan motives; pretend to be broad minded and large hearted; and criticize them.

We are in a dilemma. Which side to choose? What is the solution?

Both sides represent; generalization of subjective and illusory or paranoid fear; of being dominated by the others; by petty, fanatic and maniacal leaders; representing both sides.

Even though the petty leaders on both sides; are selling blame games; and many of us; find gratification in them; (due to our own narrowness), soon we all would be disillusioned; and if we don’t rectify in time; would degenerate.

While everyone one of us is prone to fall prey to parochial chauvinism; the solution does not lie in such vicious and barbaric reactions. We have to make efforts to rise; and bravely conquer the obstacles to growth; inside and outside; and blossom together!

Marathi manoos (as well as others) has gone far and wide and excelled in a variety of fields and walks of life; such as art, sports, languages, trade, sciences, finances, politics and spirituality; but not with a narrow identity such as Marathi or Non-Marathi manoos.

In this respect the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi is a guiding light for the whole mankind and all of us even today. In essence; Mahatma Gandhi tried to initiate individual and global blossoming and self empowerment.

Charkha, khaadi, naturopathy, walking, moolodyog (productive element in education); were all; essentially aimed at self empowerment! Freedom; for him; meant freedom from within and outside; and for India and the people of world!

For him, nonviolence meant “freedom from indiscriminate inflictions; to oneself and the others”!

Mahatma Gandhi’s globally benevolent ideas articulated; as his “inner voice”; had sprung from the enlightenment inside; originated from his practice of NAMASMARAN. One can also argue that NAMASMARAN sprung from the enlightenment!
There is no issue. In any case; NAMASMARAN and enlightenment go hand in hand!

We must understand that if our blossoming is punctuated, then our inner growth is also stunted. In as much it is unnatural to deny our physical and subsequent identities; it is antinatural get saddled in regional, linguistic or religious identities. It is stressful to everyone.

Let us see a practical problem!

Restricting our identity creates a conflict in our mind when it comes to judging humane and inhuman acts!

If a person committing some inhuman acts; is a member of our family, caste, language, region, religion, nation, race; and a person serving mankind selflessly; is not; then whom should we consider as “ours” and accept, love and respect?

What is our true identity?

In addition to our body, family, caste, village, religion; our true core identity is; “being part of the process of individual and global blossoming”! The simplest way of realizing this; is practice of NAMASMARAN, in absence of which, we get trapped in the restrictive identities and throttle our soul! We should not merely believe or disbelieve; this; but verify.

MAHATMA GANDHI: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
MAHATMA GANDHI: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Mahatma Gandhi translated his vision and perceptions with almost complete fidelity, almost universal acceptability and almost maximum feasibility into sociopolitical programs and activities; which proved fulfilling for his ‘true self’ and hence inspiring for the world!

The word “almost” is used; to concede the controversies!

Many great people have had either mere profound vision of universal progress or mere poetic feelings of global welfare or mere tangible endeavors for the emancipation of mankind. But few have had all these; and to such phenomenal extent.

Very few of us are aware of the fact that Mahatma Gandhi not only practiced NAMASMARAN with top priority, steadfastly and continuously; but has written a book on it and held it in the highest esteem. If we have to describe the real spirit of Mahatma Gandhi in one word; then it is; NAMASMARAN!

Today, we need exact translation; of universal philosophy, vision, perception, feelings, laws, policies, programs and plans; in all the fields of life; and at personal, family, social and global levels. In short; we need the appropriate application of the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi.

STRESS AND ROMANCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND ROMANCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

The STRESS; caused by hunger, thirst, sexual deprivation, lack of shelter, illiteracy, ill health, and lack of overall freedom to blossom at individual and global levels; if mismanaged; damages (besides other aspects); the most vital aspect of our life; the romance!

Romance is the vital sap. Romance is the fuel. Romance is the energy. Romance is the light. Romance is life.

If the vital sap of romance ascends from the roots of our life tree to the top; then our life tree blossoms with romance! If the water of romance gets short circuited or gets leaked on the way, then gradually the romance in life desiccates and life degenerates.

All the excitement; thrill, exhilaration of blossoming of romance; is essentially the ascent of this sap! In absence of this ascent we become caricatures of ourselves; dry and devoid of romance.

The first or immediate sufferers of our mismanaged stress; are our mother, father, brothers, sisters, fiancée, spouse, children.

The next to suffer are our servants, employers, and friends and so on. Subsequently our mismanaged stress harms our institution, village, town, city, province, nation and the whole world. The suffering is however not necessarily in a specific sequence!

The romance desiccates due to the stress of contradiction in preaching of asceticism, austerity, penance, sacrifice; on the one hand; and the natural attraction of the majesty, grandeur, glamour, glitter, pleasures, fun, excitement, joy and thrill; involved in epicurean or hedonist way of life.

Romance evaporates also because of the conflict between the compulsion to study the curricular subjects such as science, engineering, medical subjects, mathematics, geography, history, civics, grammars etc and the natural attraction for the intensely romantic other activities.

Traditional practice of NAMASMARAN enables us; to evolve the concept of holistic education as had been done by Mahatma Gandhi.

Holistic education is a way of earning and enjoying and hence an opportunity. There is no pressure of preaching and compulsion of studies! Holistic education is total blossoming and conscious evolutionary transformation, where the sap of romance ascends up to its destination!

This makes us more objective. We conquer the fetishes, dogmas, whims, fancies, obstinacy, and adamancy. We fulfill our life in every possible way; as we become open, considerate and understanding; in our perspective, thinking, feelings and behavior; with everyone around.

NAMASMARAN VS NAMAVISMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
NAMASMARAN VS NAMAVISMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

NAMA is a word used to indicate true self; inseparable from the unifying universal self. Hence forgetting our self or being oblivious to our self can be referred to as NAMAVISMARAN [NAMA (self); VISMARAN (forgetting)].

As we “forget” our true self (NAMAVISMARAN), i.e. undergo a “descent” into our caricatures, we begin to live as our caricatures. We then get segregated into races, philosophies, ideologies, religions, cultures, nations, regions, families and individuals! Latter we descend further by the downward momentum of individualization and into pettier and meaner life!

This universal process of NAMAVISMARAN manifests in the form of individualistic whims, fancies, idiosyncrasies, delinquencies, perversions, family disputes, quarrels; and world wide spate of antisocial activities leading to discord and destruction.

Since the root of the individual and universal problems; lies in the universal process of NAMAVISMARAN, the panacea for the radical measure for the cure and prevention of the individual and universal problems; lies in reversal of the prevalent universal process of NAMAVISMARAN through active practice and promotion of universal process of NAMASMARAN.

One can verify this; by the practice of NAMASMARAN; in personal life; by getting the reassuring and blissful experience of regeneration and rejuvenation of the petty self, by NAMA!

GLOBAL STRESS: THE POSSIBLE ROLE OF NAMASMARAN IN TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
GLOBAL STRESS: THE POSSIBLE ROLE OF NAMASMARAN IN TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

The ascent of our petty self and its merger into the true self i.e. cosmic self is hypothesized to be possible through the practice of NAMASMARAN.

The term cosmic self refers to the source of cosmic conscience, thoughts, ideas and their execution.

The entanglement in the petty self leads to total inertia or perverted and fanatic activities. This is characterized by indiscriminate violence towards self, nature and others. This may be termed as TAMAS.

The entanglement in the petty self; can also lead to intelligent, skilled, but sectarian activity aimed at the petty personal gains. This is characterized by subtle, disguised and cunning exploitation, deception, cheating, frauds, lies, hypes, through a variety of tactics and technologically advanced means. The cruelty is concealed and hence majority fall prey to it; willingly or unknowingly but readily! This may be termed RAJAS.

The entanglement of petty self may also lead to otherwise innocuous, harmless, egalitarian activities such as involvement in the study of various sciences, arts, and technology and philanthropy. This self contentment may be called SATVA.

NAMASMARAN is hypothesized to help in the ascent and merger of petty self in the cosmic self, which is the empowering source of holistic perspective, ideas, feelings and actions; and thus conquering the TAMAS, RAJAS and even SATVA; and the global stress.

MANIACAL TENDENCIES: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
MANIACAL TENDENCIES: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Most of us we wake up with some desire and also desire to do something (although vague).

But when this excitement gets flared up indiscriminately and becomes excessive, unreasonable, coercive and violent; then it is called maniacal tendency. Pathologically severer forms show far more aggressiveness and indiscriminate violence.

We can try the following; at our own risk; if we suffer from maniacal tendency;

1. Finding out; how reasonable and how important our desires are; and avoid the desires, which are unreasonable and not so very important to us.
2. Finding out; how much we may hurt and/or harm others; in fulfilling our desires and avoid them.
3. Finding out; if our own quiet and peaceful existence appears passive, redundant and defeatist to us!
4. Finding out; if there is ever increasing discrepancy between our achievements and our expectations; in view of rapid passage of time and advancing age.
5. Finding out; if the practice of NAMASMARAN helps us; to overcome the depressing or upsetting influences from the fleeting external and internal environment.
