Normal Delivery at 45 years
Normal Delivery at 45 years of age.....!!!!

- Dr. (Mrs.) Madhuri M. Prabhudesai
B.A.M.S.
Mobile - 9423884321

Surprised by the heading? In present days of commercialisation this seems to be very rare. But during last 30 yrs. of my medical profession I have handled so many cases of pregnant women and have treated them successfully with only Ayurvedic Garbhini-Paricharya i. e. with basti, Siddha-taila pichu-dharan and Snehan with various oils at the time of actual delivery. About 90% of the pregnant ladies have delivered normally with this simple Ayurvedic method. Here is one such case --
Date - 01 / 05 / 2000
Name - ABC
Age - 45 years
C / O - Amenorrhoea for about three months, came to confirm menopause as per her age.
L. M. P. - 07 / 02 / 2000
F.T.N.D. - one male child, 18 yrs. old. Then no issue. (Secondary Sterility)
O. E. - P/A and P/V revealed bulky & pregnant uterus of the same, three months duration.
She was quite sure that she had undergone menopause and so, she consulted about three gynaecologists. When everybody told the 'same', she again came to me. By that time she was advised by every medical / non-medical person that 'it is very risky to carry with this pregnancy, it is at the cost of her life, you will have to undergo caesarean operation which is also risky at this age, the child may be abnormal, when you have first son of 18 yrs. old what the public may comment?, so the best thing is you go for abortion', & so on. But her astrologist, with whom she had a great faith, told her that 'this child is very lucky & after its birth you will prosper like anything.' So, she came to me to inquire whether Ayurveda may help her to deliver with minimum risk.
History of this pt. - Actually, this pt. was not in contact with the pregnant ladies taking our treatment for normal / easy delivery. Even then she came to us, for some another reason. She had chronic cough for which she was under treatment of a chest-physician in Ratnagiri. Her X-Ray revealed opacity at the base of her rt. lung & as usual she was diagnosed and was under treatment for Koch's. In spite of the treatment for about two years, she had no relief. She had recurrent attacks of cough & fever and day by day she lost her weight (38 Kgs). So, she was brought to Dr. M. P. Prabhudesai, in the month of May 1993. With Ayurvedic treatment with necessary pathya, the opacity in her rt. lung almost disappeared, she was relieved of cough & fever and she had wt.-gain up to 46 Kgs., within a year. Then afterwards she had a rickshaw-accident. She was injured badly with pain at her neck & spine. She was hospitalised for many days and because of the heavy antibiotics again she developed anorexia and subsequent weight-loss. After taking many types of tonics she could not gain her wt. Then she came to us again and after proper Ayurvedic treatment with deepan-pachan along with brumhan-basti, she had proper wt.-gain once again. So, she had a faith in us because of which she came to me for the treatment to continue her pregnancy.
Line of treatment - As the patient was firm to carry on with the pregnancy, we assured her with Ashwasan-Chikitsa and suggested the following line of treatment -----
1. Regular check up with Urine-examination, CBC and routine USG.
2. A course of 3 matra basti & one niruha basti after eighth month of pregnancy till onset of labour (day 1- matra, day 2 - niruha & one matra & day 3 - matra)
3. Regular Pichu-Dharan in vagina with siddha Taila - We almost invariably suggest this for every pregnant woman, but being an elderly pregnancy, this was essential for this pt., to increase and maintain the elasticity of vaginal & perineal musculature.
4. Masanumasika quathas
5. Routine regular instructions for a Garbhini.
We advised the pt. to get routine check-up done from Gynaecologist to confirm regular and proper growth of the foetus; in this way we could convince the pt. and its relatives, about the proper Ayurvedic line of treatment.
Pt. delivered normally - As post-natal care of the pt. was easier in Ratnagiri, she registered herself in a famous maternity hospital in Ratnagiri in November 2000. Her USG was done on admission and the gynaecologist first called her surgeon-husband and then both of them called a senior gynaecologist to observe the readings of the USG. The pt. being 'heena-satwa' was frightened by the scene and thought of some major problem. But the senior gynaecologist agreed that she had never seen such 'clear intestines without gases &/or faeces' during her practice for last 40 years. She enquired about the treatment and assured the pt. that she is going to deliver normally, without any surgical intervention. The pt. immediately contacted me on phone & told me about this episode, even before contacting her own relatives. Next day the pt. delivered normally with a baby weighing about 71/2 pounds.
In this way, with the help of proper guidelines laid down by Ayurveda, we were able to create proper elasticity in the perineal musculature due to the basties, pichu-dharan & quathas and the pt. could deliver normally in older age, even.
During our practice we do take help of all kinds of diagnostic aids, to convince the pt. & its relatives. But we always try to remain with Ayurvedic Principles in our diagnosis & treatment and of course, we are almost always blessed by the expected results.
So, Vagbhatacharya has clearly mentioned that -----

GURU BHAKTI REITERATED: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
GURU BHAKTI REITERATED: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, what is the best way to do GURU BHAKTI?
Teacher: Trying hard to do what He likes most, trying to follow him to the fullest extent.
Student: Our Guru Brahmachaitanya Shri. Gondavalekar Maharaj asks us to practice NAMASMARAN. Is it enough?
Teacher: Of course it is enough! But it is not possible for many of us to practice NAMASMARAN 24 hours of the day; and also; to be totally involved in it! Hence they offer their services in the form of; doing pooja in early morning, cleaning of the Samadhi temple, cooking, serving food, cleaning vessels, looking after the cows or as in my case; articulating and sharing my understanding of NAMASMARAN with others! This helps to remain in the buoyant and pleasant spirit of Guru Bhakti.
Student: We also share quotes and other matters related to NAMASMARAN on internet; but still I am not satisfied!
Teacher: It is natural! It is just a good beginning of social interaction and not a genuine service to Guru. There is no physical, mental, intellectual or financial involvement. It does not involve any sincerity, responsibility, answerability, accountability, meticulousness, promptness, punctuality, discipline, seriousness, commitment, dedication, social stake or risk of any kind! How can anybody get satisfaction from such a trivial activity?
Student: But is it not a good activity?
Teacher: Social Networking is a good activity; but can be a genuine service or devotion to Guru; provided it is followed by coming together to enhance the understanding, practice and promotion of NAMASMARAN, in every nook and corner, where it is unknown! It can then nurture contentment of soul in contrast to ‘self contentment’ and dissolve the ego in servitude; in contrast to ‘bloating it’!
Student: But practicing NAMASMARAN is one thing and getting obsessed to promote it is another. Is it not a kind of disbelief in the fact that Guru does everything?
Teacher: I would have happily agreed with what you say, provided we had not taken any efforts; for the security, survival, safety, comfort, status, career, entertainment and other pursuits of us, our children and the near dear ones to us; and left it to Guru! But using this argument to avoid promotion of NAMASMARAN; while being engrossed in petty pursuits; is a self deception!
Student: Do you get satisfaction?
Teacher: Instead of getting personal; I would reiterate that as our involvement goes on increasing and as the mega process of NAMASMARAN begins to reach, where it is unknown; we begin to get the satisfaction of service or devotion to Guru i.e. Guru bhakti.
In fact; whatever may be the nature of services; according to variable constitutions and capabilities; they give satisfaction, when our involvement is substantial and not hollow and superficial. In short, we would find that our satisfaction is directly and exactly proportional to our involvement in our service, which directly or indirectly helps globalization of NAMASMARAN!
Student: But if the globalization; is anyway an incoming thing, then why should we work for it?
Teacher: This is a role of an announcer, involved in announcing the great arrival! This is our service! Our Guru has distinctly predicted the onset of globalization of NAMASMARAN. Just as the incoming spring blossoms some plants first, the incoming globalization inspires, empowers and compels some people to practice NAMASMARAN and express its infinite beauty; first!
Secondly; while practicing NAMASMARAN it becomes inevitable and unavoidable to express about it; in one way or another such as music, dance, theater, lectures, public speeches, sermons and so on!
Student: Do you think the others would or should join you?
Teacher: I used to think so; earlier, but no more. Just as I do what I am doing now, they would also do with His grace; what is appropriate for them at an appropriate time!

Teacher: Great!
Student: Sir, but still I am not satisfied.

Teacher: However; this intense satisfaction is also; next to that of the advanced stages of merger in NAMASMARAN!

WHY NAMASMARAN? DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
WHY NAMASMARAN? DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, why do you prefer NAMASMARAN to other techniques or methods of meditation?
Teacher: It is because it is simple, inexpensive, and acceptable to all religions. It does not contradict or interfere with any traditions. It can be practiced in any condition of body.
Student: Any other reason?
Teacher: It is truly personal and it is truly universal. It is personal in the sense that it takes us to our true self and it is universal in the sense that it unites and harmonizes every being with cosmic self!
Student: Which is the main difficulty in accepting it?
Teacher: There is no barrier in its acceptance, except that of our ego. But the ego also gets dissolved in the process of practicing it!
Student: Any other reason?
Teacher: I like NAMASMARAN; because it suits childhood, youth and old age; and every form of art such as music and dance! Moreover it suits every culture and every life style. It is truly a magic that blossoms an individual and the universe!

HOLISTIC EVOLUTION AND NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
HOLISTIC EVOLUTION AND NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS
KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, in spite of years of practice of NAMASMARAN; I am still not able to experience what is described as satisfaction! What should I do?
Teacher: As far as I understand it, satisfaction is even more difficult than achievement of extraordinary feats.
Student: What do you mean?
Teacher: Practice of NAMASMARAN is actually a training of doing an activity where you do not get any “benefit”! Being such a practice; NAMASMARAN does not impart any benefit to us, but actually transforms us to our original omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient state, which is totally devoid of any desires! This is an immortal state. But this may require not years and decades but even more.
Student: I don’t understand!
Teacher: When we are told that don’t expect anything; we think that we should not expect money, name, fame, power etc. So we stop expecting those things and start expecting satisfaction; because we think it is assured by Guru! But this concept of “getting” itself traps us! We mistakenly take the satisfaction referred to by our Guru, to be some kind of gratification or complacence; and keep waiting for it; and are eventually disappointed.
Student: So what to do?
Teacher: Just as we breathe oxygen to survive physically; we ought to practice NAMASMARAN to be what we actually are i.e. to be our self. Just as we breathe at every age and every stage of life, we should practice NAMASMARAN in every condition.
Just as there is no necessity to curb other activities relevant and appropriate to a particular age and stage of life there is no need to suppress any impulses arbitrarily. Our physical, emotional and intellectual needs, desires and aspirations have to be given justice through our efforts; in the light of NAMASMARAN in the form of prompting from deep within; the empowering guidance of our Guru!
Actually our needs and desires go on changing or disappearing in the process of our transformation, without any coercion or suppression. This buoyant life style is called KRAMAYOGA.
Student: In short, we should not expect anything, even happiness, peace, satisfaction from NAMASMARAN?
Teacher: It may appear strange. But it is true. When we feel cold, we should use warm clothes. But how can we expect warmth from a process which actually transforms us to our original state of “fire”? Moreover once we become fire, how can we experience the warmth of warm clothes?
Student: Sir, this explanation is quite different from the overt sentimentality of millions of devotees!
Teacher: Actually, often; we are in need of some solace, some peace; some escapism and so on. Hence we try to cling to some tradition, some cult and feel secure in it. Often we infatuate piety, devotion, surrender, blessings, bounty, freedom from instincts; etc as these are our emotional crutches. We seek some social acceptability, social recognition and some social cohesiveness. This is understandable.
But for me; NAMASMARAN is a straight forward and transcientific process of individual and universal blossoming, which may be termed “holistic evolution” to distinguish it from “organic evolution”. Can we wish to be evolved? Evolution cannot be wished for! Hence my Guru Brahmachaitanya Shri Gondavalekar Maharaj repeatedly states that practice of NAMASMARAN is appropriate, when it is for the sake of NAMASMARAN only!

WHY WRITE?: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
WHY WRITE?: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, why do you keep on writing and that also; persistently on the same theme; without any; even economic incentive?

Teacher: This is a kind of compulsion or an obsession. I don’t pretend to be writing for fulfillment. This action of writing is inevitable like the process of delivery in the stage of full term pregnancy. It is painful and not merely fulfilling.

Student: Don’t you write it for the benefit of mankind?

Teacher: Anyone can claim that his/her action is globally benevolent. But to me what we perceive, feel and respond to; constitutes changing and hence deceptive, limited and hence incomplete; and NOT self controlled, independent reality. The reality is beyond time, space and human consciousness; termed SHRI RAMA and is super controlling (SAMARTH ) cause the ‘field’; and everything else is a ‘function’ or ‘contingent’.
SRHI RAMA SAMARTH is simply; the reiteration of this fact; and prevent the SHACKLING impact and influence of the contingent called MAYA.
Hence, irrespective of the accuracy, appropriateness, relevance, benevolence; or otherwise; writing simply happens. It is beyond being resisted.

Student: Is this not true for every action of every person?

Teacher: Yes! It is true for every action of every person. Theoretically speaking; actions get expressed through us; whether we are self realized or ignorant; and philanthropic or criminal.

Student: But from practical point of view; this statement is misleading; as we the common people have to work ourselves and discharge our duties.

Teacher: SHRIRAM SAMARTH is a truth that is realized at an evolved state of mind and is valid for that state only. Rest of us; have to; without denying this truth; abide by our duties, called SWADHARMA.

Student: What do you say about the terrorist and indiscriminately violent actions?

Teacher: Even the menaces like terrorism, the imperceptible roots of which are spread even within us, can be subdued if we go on practicing NAMASMARAN thereby connecting with the syncytium of interiors (SHRIRAM); common to all; while simultaneously practicing actions according to our constitutions, in the light of innate inspiration and guidance (SWADHARMA).

Student: Don’t you think writing is a feeble and innocuous activity?

Teacher: It does appear to be so; especially when compared to the actual phenomenon of self realization!

PROMOTION OF NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
PROMOTION OF NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, It is said that NAMASMARAN is exclusively a personal issue. It is so much personal that nobody; not even the family members and spouse; is a partner in it. If this is so, then why should we promote it?

Teacher: It is true that NAMASMARAN is a personal issue. It is like breathing. No one can breathe on our behalf!

Student: Then why should we promote it?

Teacher: Just as when there is a threat to oxygen content in the atmosphere, just breathing is not enough. All of us; the governments, the organizations and individuals; are required to work for increasing oxygen content in the atmosphere. Similarly; when there is paucity of awareness and insight in NAMASMARAN, which is vital for sustaining and blossoming individual and universal life; in the global ambiance, it essential and urgent to promote it.

Student: But Sir! Is it not inappropriate to promote it; when we ourselves have so many drawbacks?

Teacher: It is inappropriate to assume authority and preach but it is appropriate, essential and urgent to share the importance of NAMASMARAN in sustaining and blossoming individual and universal life; with maximum people.

Student: But is it not true that this is going to happen in any case through the comic will?

Teacher: It is true. The dark clouds of NAMAVISMARAN will disappear; but how? It is through the promotion of NAMASMARAN; by us, the fortunate ones. It is a great bounty, if we could follow the cosmic i.e. our Guru’s will!

Student: But is it not true that we should try to improve ourselves and not try to transform the world? Is it not preposterous or mega maniacal to assume that we can transform the world?

Teacher: It is true that we should try to improve ourselves by maximum practice of NAMASMARAN. But even this would be catalyzed if the ambiance is conducive; and not unfavorable or suffocating!

Student: Does it not shift our focus from NAMASMARAN?

Teacher: If we are involved in NAMASMARAN for 24 hours, then this argument is valid. But we use it as an excuse, even as we are unnecessarily and inadvertently involved in useless and counterproductive activities!

MODUS OPERANDI OF NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS JANARDAN KASHALIKAR
MODUS OPERANDI OF NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS JANARDAN KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, I wanted to ask you about how to increase NAMASMARAN sitting in one place? Apart from the daily NAMASMARAN, it's bit difficult for me to increase it. While working, walking here and there, I do chant as much as possible but feel; it would be more beneficial if I do more while sitting in one place.

Do you have any suggestions please? Would like to know.

Teacher: Thank you for stimulating me to think about NAMASMARAN from this angle.

As far as I understand, God our Guru; inspires, empowers and enables us to practice NAMASMARAN exactly in a manner appropriate to us. He also inspires and enables us to do activities, appropriate to us, which would promote and spread the practice of and involvement in NAMASMARAN.

As I understand, He likes us to keep anusandhan i.e. focus on NAMA; while we are busy in our day to day activities, SWADHARMA.

I don’t think our Guru has specified any modus operandi, such as sitting in place or any other.

I don’t try to sit in one place and practice NAMASMARAN, except in morning and evening for about five to ten minutes. I do not try anything extra. I am in one place, if I am tired, if I am not well or if I am in Arati etc. I am in one place if it is midnight, if it is too hot or too cold or raining outside.

May be, I am not mature enough or old enough to practice NAMASMARAN by sitting in one place.

But I am sure our Guru does evolve us and gets everything done appropriately through us, at an appropriate time and as per His wish.
