FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

If our “freedom of expression”; is meant to serve our vested interests; with the help of our position, power, money and means such as; newspaper, TV Channels, radio, cinema, drama, advertisements, internet etc; then the masses; who do not have such means; and hence do not have such “freedom of expression”; can react; to our “expression” by indiscriminate violence; towards self and/or others.

This is exactly what is happening. The suicides, crimes, fanaticism, fascism, racism, riots, terrorism, proxy wars will continue and in fact; escalate; if we do not heed; and simply go on making hue and cry in media about our “freedom of expression”.

We have to realize that; if our “expression” is generated by brazen lust, meanness, bigotry, vested interests, prejudices, viciousness, vengeance, helplessness, ignorance, irresponsibility; or foolishness; in short; our superficiality and pettiness; then; it is bound to be detrimental to our individual growth and social blossoming.

But; it is said; that practice and promotion of NAMASMARAN; can purify us from deep within; improve our expression, make “freedom of expression” feasible and also enable us to evolve appropriate laws for nurturing such freedom.

VISION STRESS & DREAMS : DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
VISION STRESS & DREAMS : DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Is there any truth in the vision and dreams depicted in religious, philosophical and creative literature, poetry and movies and the sermons on ethics, nonviolence and obedience; given in schools, colleges and elsewhere?

The present scenario of the indiscriminate, malevolent, malicious and vicious violence and crimes; creates doubt about everything noble and divine! The genocidal violence in Germany is followed by, violence in Hiroshima, Vietnam, Cambodia (Kampuchea), Iraq, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda and so on.

The optimist however; can argue uphold the utopia of divinity and nobility.

But the question; “Are the expressions and creations; depicting vision and dreams of justice, peace, brotherhood and so on; mere emotional outbursts of illusory or subjective nature; of some unrealistically sensitive individuals?”; keeps nagging and causing enormous stress!

Actually this question and the stress; are because; we can see only a small fraction, in our life time, of the vision or dreams, of a global mega process spread over millennia involving many generations; all over the world. Naturally; it appears to keep on eluding us (producing stress) at any given time! The artistic, scientific and even prophetic visions; are harbingers; of this prolonged process!

The vision of unity of spiritualism and materialism; theism and atheism; and so on; also; produces stress; as we are too limited to “see and fathom” this protracted mega process of unity.

But if we reunite through NAMASMARAN; with our cosmic root (the field, in which; we, our pursuits and our blossoming; are contingent), then we can ‘see’ this 'vision of unity', as well as other visions such as holistic renaissance; being realized; and conquer the stress!!

STRESS, GLOBAL FAMILY AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS, GLOBAL FAMILY AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS
KASHALIKAR

With rapid development of technology and especially the rapid telecommunication and transportation; we are already in a process of realizing the eternal wisdom of VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM; which means the world is one family-obviously a joyous and affectionate family with congenial atmosphere!

But our ideologies, philosophies, religions, laws, conventions, traditions and every transaction for that matter; are subjective. They are either individualistic controlled by basal instincts or authoritarian and restrictive. Often we are ruled by whims and fancies. Moreover there are racial, religious, atheistic, national, cultural, linguistic and other prejudices.

Thus; the ‘discipline’ at global and personal level is variably illogical, idiosyncratic, coercive, and bizarre and not conducive to individual and universal blossoming. Actually it leads to stress and deterioration in global and individual life.

To overcome this stress; we have to be ‘universal beings’ with holistic perspective, policies, plans, programs and modalities of implementation. We need to grow more objective, more natural, more universal and more accurate, for universal justice and VSAUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM. Can the practice and promotion of NAMASMARAN at individual, institutional and government levels; help in this?

MAAN GANGA GONDAVALE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
MAAN GANGA GONDAVALE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Maan is an area; in the state of Maharashtra, in India. The districts; sharing this area; are Satara, Solapur and Sangli. Gondavle (India, Maharashtra state, Satara district, Maan taluka) is surrounded by places such as Dahivadi, Pusegaon, Koregaon, Mhasvad, Aatpadi, Satara, Phaltan, Vita, and Tasgaon. It is about 60 to 100 km from Sangola, Pandharpur, Pune, Sangli, Miraj and Mahabaleshvar. It can be reached from Mumbai, Panvel, Vashi, New Mumbai, Lonavla, and Thane; by road; in about 5 to 7 hours by express highway.

Millions amongst us visit Gondavle with inexplicable and utmost attraction, love, devotion, dedication, reverence and innate piety; towards the incarnation of ultimate truth viz. Sadguru Shri Brahmachaitanya Maharaj Gondavalekar.

Many of us participate in daily activities (conducive to individual and global blossoming) called NITYOPASANA (nitya = one which continues uninterrupted and upasana means getting nearer to God or truth). Some of us are involved in daily maintenance and management; while others are active in programs such as ANNA DAN (serving blessed food i.e. PRASAD) and GOSEVA and GOGRAS (caring and feeding the cows).

How many of us know that there is a river named Maan Ganga and have seen it, where Shri Gondavlekar Maharaj spent his childhood?

How many of us have witnessed the miserable and pathetic condition of Maanganga?

Do we care for the sanctity of Maanganga on the banks of which; Gondavlekar Maharaj played during His childhood?

How many of us appreciate that neglecting Maanganga amounts to; disregarding our own reverence towards Shri Gondavlekar Maharaj?

How many of us know that Maan (area around Gondavle) is drought affected and the importance of healthy river can not be overemphasized? Isn’t neglecting Maan Ganga; like committing suicide of our own physical, mental, economic and environmental existence? Is it not spiritual suicide also; in view of the fact that Maan Ganga is an infinite source of emancipating ambrosia?

Can we isolate the devotion towards Shri Gondavlekar Maharaj, visiting Gondavle, volunteering for various services, practicing NAMASMARAN; from the revival of Maanganga the mother that would nurture us with spiritual nectar for centuries to come?

NAMASMARAN can certainly inspire and motivate our conscience, wisdom, talents, expertise, managing capacity, technical skills, and coordination amongst many; to start and expedite the actual process of healing and revival of mother Maanganga; and help her to regenerate and rejuvenate us!

STRESS AND PRARABDHA: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND PRARABDHA: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

PRARABDHA, SANCHIT and KRIYAMANA refer to past deeds and the present deeds respectively.

It is customary to describe a particular calamity as a part of PRARABDHA, when there is no etiology. In medicine also we often use the term idiopathic i.e. where the cause is not known.

The stress results when we attribute all the problems to the PRARABDHA and give up efforts. This is true in personal as well as social life; but especially in social life; because social evils do not bother us so much; as our own personal problems do.

In our religious and spiritual endeavors aimed at self realization or our immortal state; we often neglect; the social evils (attributing them to PRARABDHA) and in our striving for social welfare we forget the essence of life viz. immortal bliss.

As a result; the spiritual and religious endeavors gradually crumble into petty fetish for some esoteric personal gains and the social endeavors get fossilized to mechanical activity without innate fulfillment.

The pursuit of spiritual, religious and social endeavors is actually the same; viz. individual and global blossoming into the experience of immortal self and universal unity and eternal bliss. The former two; focus on the inner development while the latter focus on the all the material development conducive to such inner development.

We need spiritual and religious endeavors such as NAMASMARAN just we need oxygen; and we need all the wisdom and expertise in the science, technology, medicine, agriculture also; just as we need food, water etc. These two are inseparable for life to culminate into efficient individual and global blossoming.

Further; we need NAMASMARAN for our personal inner growth and enlightenment and self realization; but we need holistic perspective, policies, plans and programs for the social development and harmony conducive to NAMASMARAN and growth and enlightenment; in everyone’s life. These two are inseparable.

Therefore; all our institutions e.g. education, research, health care, administration, defense, police and so on; need the detoxifying vital sap of NAMASMARAN as an integral part; and all our religious and spiritual institutions need awareness, motivation and participation in global welfare.

The spiritual and religious endeavors cut off from the mainstream life; degenerate into petrified and parasitic rituals; and the mainstream activities cut off from spiritual and religious endeavors (e.g. NAMASMARAN) degenerate into belligerent and destructive chaos.

STRESS AND SHADRIPUS: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND SHADRIPUS: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Most probably; the fish does not desire to fly!

We however; have a variety of such ‘supernatural’ desires! Many of these desires are accomplished and we not only fly; but actually travel in the space also!

But; even more supernatural goals have been the conquest of SHADRIPUS viz. sexual instinct, desires, attachment, anger, jealousy etc.

It is said that some individuals have conquered these. There is no reason to disbelieve this; even if we are unable to conquer them; just as we don’t disbelieve the cosmonauts traveling in the space; even if we have not entered the space.

But the preaching; of ‘conquering of the SHADRIPUS’ (without any reference to holistic renaissance); as ideal; causes (in most of us) a conflict (and stress); between physiological instincts and needs (which keep compelling for satiation from within) and the impossible ideals of abstinence.

But apart from this conflict; in the apparently supernatural but actually petty pursuit; we forget the basic premise of the principle of individual and universal blossoming!

No wonder; we have arrogance about our spirituality (e.g. our practice of NAMASMARAN or other SADHANA) on the one hand; and the stark reality of inappropriate perspective, policies, plans, programs, laws and their implementation resulting in crimes, frustration, disease, disorder and destitution; on the other!

STRESS, ENTERTAINMENT AND AMRUTANUBHAV: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS, ENTERTAINMENT AND AMRUTANUBHAV: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

It is undeniably true that entertainment forms a vital aspect of our life. Different experiences of excitement, entertainment, recreation, relaxation, lazing, brooding, basking, gossiping and even indulging and so on; are attractively interesting, infatuatively captivating, pleasantly absorbing and hence universally enthralling. These experiences sustain and nourish business and industry in religion, culture, art, fashion and so on! In fact these experiences dominate every walk of our life all over the world.

But if we seriously introspect, then we would find that we do not get the lasting fulfillment; in spite of such experiences.

This lack of fulfillment is divine restlessness, which is akin to the restlessness of a pregnant woman. Just as the restlessness of a pregnant woman; cannot be satisfied by anything other than a safe delivery; resulting in a birth of a healthy baby; followed by healthy mother-baby interaction; the divine restlessness can not be satisfied by any entertainment.

This is exactly why and how; the concepts and practice of Total Stress Management, Superliving, Holistic Health, Holistic Medicine, Holistic Education; and others; with different names and titles; but similar and holistic purport; are evolved all over the world embodying the individual and universal blossoming!

Our participation in any of the above; with top priority to NAMASMARAN; helps us appreciate AMRUTANUBHAV, a literary super masterpiece by Shri Dnyaneshwar Vitthal Kulkarni; popularly known as Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, Dnyanadev Maharaj and Dnyanoba Mauli, (13th century; Maharashtra).

STRESS AND ENTERTAINMENT :DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND ENTERTAINMENT :DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Entertainment has become a necessary and inseparable part of many of us. In fact for many of us it has become essential aspect of our life. Many of us have become dependent on and addicted to entertainment in one form or another.

Many of us measure the index of our happiness on the basis of how often and how many varieties of entertainments (and items of luxuries) we “enjoy”!

There are many STRESS management guides, which advocate; hobbies, shopping, socialization, meditation and such measures; apart from some fitness tips; for STRESS management.

It is natural therefore; that whenever we suffer from STRESS; we turn to entertainment. Not only whenever we are sad, depressed, bored or going through some unpleasant situation, but also for feeling relaxed, elated, euphoric, high, better, excited, buoyant and “on top of the world”; we turn to some kind of entertainment.

This is why; we like even what is said and written about entertainment. We love the entertainers; in fact; we adore them! This has made entertainment (and STRESS management) a roaring business and lucrative career for millions amongst us.

Even the print and electronic media are addicted to entertainment; and keep on following or actually chasing; the entertainment personalities (celebrities), activities, “love affairs”, “sex scandals” and “gossips” for the “stories”!

But in spite of this; why do most of us (even those from media and entertainment business) continue to suffer from STRESS?

Why is this so?

Why are we not at peace with ourselves or why are we not satisfied or fulfilled?

Why do we need counselors and support systems in different forms?

Why do we suffer from various diseases caused or complicated by STRESS? Why do we suffer from STRESS and spread it to others?

To find out the answer; we have to know the limitations of entertainment (with very few possible exceptions) and find out; “What is beyond entertainment”!

STRESS AND SERMONS: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND SERMONS: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

We are taught to stand, walk, jump, run, talk, read, write and such many skills! But we are not inspired and guided to know and be ourselves! This statement may appear strange; but if we ponder over it; a bit seriously; then we would be convinced about it. In fact we don’t seem to realize that such inspiration and guidance; is even needed!

Actually some religions and cultures; have made provisions; to educate and empower us to know and be the immortal self that we actually are; through acculturation. These provisions have been wise and appropriate for different ages, occupations, times of the day, regions, seasons and so on; to ensure step wise self realization and growth and blossoming of the society.

But since the wisdom in these religious and cultural practices has become obscure; we are left with a big intellectual vacuum or void and confusion.

We add to this confusion and chaos; by sermonizing ultimate state of self realization and highest standards of devotion, dedication and sacrifice! These unrealistic and impossible ideals and standards are almost always; unachievable and hence cause severe conflict and sense of guilt and enormous stress!

But apart from this perceived stress, our personal and social behavior remains unguided, uncontrolled and hence devoid of even average personal and social norms. This leads to deterioration of personal and social life; in every possible way.

We have to realize that even as we sermonize to ‘devote, dedicate, and sacrifice everything’ so as to see God and to get liberated from the cycle of birth and death; and give examples of great devotees and self realized saints to justify our preachings; how many of us have seen God and are free from the cycle of life and death? Are we not creating hell for ourselves and others?

Actually; as a result of all this; we live reflexively, superficially and casually; in accordance with; the stimuli impinging on us from environment; inside and outside our body and perpetuate stress; in individual and global life; in the form of inappropriate perspective, policies, plans, programs and actions; at individual and global levels.
In absence of Total Stress Management, not just our sermons; but all the efforts towards; globalization, development, progress, advancement, modernization, health care, charity and stress management; fail, in blossoming and fulfilling us and the universe!

Total Stress Management, the core of which is NAMASMARAN; embodies; knowing and being our true selves; and expressing ourselves; in holistic perspective, policy making, planning, programming, execution and administration; step by step; thereby fulfilling our self; while blossoming the others.

TIMELY FREEDOM: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
TIMELY FREEDOM: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

The embryo or fetus does not seek ‘untimely freedom’ to break open womb “the prison” in which they live.

A bud does not seek ‘untimely freedom’ to blossom instantly into flower.

A seed does not seek ‘untimely freedom’ to become a tree instantly.

A musician does not seek ‘untimely freedom’ to express rhythm and melody instantly.

Freedom has to be understood as a ‘timely capability and motivation’ to transform a given stage or state, which has become restrictive now!

The embryo, the bud and the musician ought to be delivered, be blossomed and be melodious; respectively; at right time! This may be called timely freedom!

If we judge the time for ‘timely freedom’ correctly and strive for it; then we succeed and if we don’t, then we miss the golden opportunity; of ‘timely freedom’! It is said that the innate urge, restlessness or ‘stress of unknown origin’ (actually the instinct to be free) can be transformed into the movement of ‘timely freedom’; through the practice of NAMASMARAN. We may not believe; but can verify this!
