How to Practice Gaman Kapalbhati: Dr. Shriniwas Kashalikar
How to Practice Gaman Kapalbhati
Gaman means walking. Kapal means forehead and bhati means glow or brightness. This procedure does not incur any expenses and does no require any gadgets. It is found to rejuvenate the body and mind; and reduce weight without weakness.
Steps
• Start with a steady and slow walk on empty stomach.
• As you begin to walk rhythmically gradually begin to practice active abdominal expiration with the steps.
• Two strokes of expiration per step is usually comfortable.
• This gets automatically associated with passive thoracic expiration. There is no need to make any efforts.
• Extra value can be added by practicing NAMASMARAN i.e. remembering divine name that one reveres.
• For example; SHRI RAM JAY RAM JAY JAY RAM is easily synchronized with two steps, which include four strokes of abdominal expiration.
• Sharing this information boosts the motivation and this activity becomes a joyful celebration and not a mechanical and compulsory health measure.
Tips
• This has the advantage of physical exercise, reducing hypokinetic stress and .all pettiness and negativity. It is best to practice and then share it with others. It does add loads to our fulfillment.
Warnings
• Should not be done in presence of abdominal, lesion, wound, operation, scar, ulcer, burns, inguinal hernia, femoral hernia, abdominal hernia, hydrocele, pregnancy, abdominal and/or pelvic malignancy or any such condition that makes the abdominal and/or pelvic organs delicate and vulnerable to injury.
• This is very important as Kapalbhati is associated with sudden pressure changes in intraabdominal, inrtathoracic and related areas.
• This should also be avoided in high blood pressure, vertigo, intracranial high blood pressure

BODY LANGUAGE AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
BODY LANGUAGE AND NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: What is body language?
Teacher: Body language is significant to communication and relationships. It is relevant to management and leadership in business and also in places where it can be observed by many people.
Student: Can you explain?
Teacher: We find that some people are rejected, even if they have eloquent communication skill; because body language, which is non-verbal or non-spoken, reveals much about the passions, feelings and motives to others; on both a conscious and unconscious levels.
Student: How is body language improved by NAMASMARAN?
Teacher: Subjective positivity, which reflects arrogance, pride, gratification of cheap entertainment, personal achievements and produces jealousy or feeling of inferiority; disappears. Subjective negativity, which reflects; depression, anguish, frustration, diffidence and produces disappointment and melancholy; also disappears.
Student: How does this happen?
Teacher: NAMASMARAN fills our inner world with feelings which are objectively i.e. selflessly positive. They are universally welcomed and cherished! They empower the inner world of others; without any efforts on our part!

SELFISHNESS AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
SELFISHNESS AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: sir, why are you obsessed with globalization of NAMASMARAN?
Teacher: there are some birds, which sense the incoming monsoon and start chirping. When they start chirping, people come to know that the monsoon is arriving! I am like them. I sense the spring of globalization of NAMASMARAN and hence am responding to it!
Student: Is there any other reason?
Teacher: If you want to put it in other words, you can call it SELFISHNESS.
Student: Selfishness?
Teacher: Yes! SELFISHNESS! Being true to my SELF! Frankly speaking; this is happening irrespective of my desire or my volition. I am charged with the incoming phase of global harmony and the globalization of NAMASMARAN pivotal to it; and hence am automatically being a part of it!
Student: Is that all? There is no difficulty what so ever?
Teacher: All the difficulties and obstacles we face in other activities of life; are present in this activity also! But there is an irresistible impulse, eagerness, urge, yearning and wistfulness! These keep on propelling me into action and the assurance and the promise keep on empowering me to go on and on victoriously!

LONELINESS AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
LONELINESS AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, I find the interviews, news, reports etc; on TV; hovering around superficial ‘cause and effect’ relationship. They do not seem to appreciate NAMASMARAN as a solution to the individual and global problems.
Teacher: It is nice that you have started appreciating NAMASMARAN as a panacea for individual and global problems! But everyone cannot be expected to be aware of it simultaneously!
Student: But sir, that is probably why, hardly anybody seems to enjoy with priority; the communication about NAMASMARAN. This has rendered me lonely!
Teacher: The great spiritual masterpiece in Marathi named DASBODH says that in the pursuit of God (Absolute truth - NAMA); one is apparently cut off from near and dear ones!
Student: But sir, what should I do in such a situation?
Teacher: As you keep practicing NAMASMARAN you will recognize the Guru emerging from within as your inner voice, which is actually the inner voice of every being! If you go on listening and responding to it; the feeling of loneliness, which is natural but illusory; will disappear!

NAMASMARAN AND WALKING DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
NAMASMARAN AND WALKING DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir; what is your favorite way of practicing NAMASMARAN?
Teacher: When I am free from my duty of the day I prefer to take shower. I begin to walk slowly and steadily. With every step I synchronize SHRI RAM JAY RAM JAY JAY RAM. On empty stomach and in absence of hernia, abdominal wound, abdominal distention due to any reason or history of recent surgery etc; I practice KAPALBHATI, which in short, is active abdominal expiration and passive thoracic inhalation and synchronize it with my steps and NAMASMARAN. At the end I feel happy and triumphant for utilizing my time maximally in the process of SELF REALIZATION and GLOBAL BLOSSOMING.

NAMASMARAN AND HELPLESSNESS: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
NAMASMARAN AND HELPLESSNESS: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir, sometimes I feel helpless for a strange reason!
Teacher: What is it?
Student: Sir, I get sunken in questions; “How did I get into today; from yesterday; without any specific intention? Has anyone “transported” me irrespective of my wish from yesterday into today? Who is He? In fact; who made me live from my childhood up till now? Who made me feel, think and act?”
As these questions overpower and engulf me! I get terrified and helpless! I get shattered as I appear to lose everything - my possessions, my status, my passions, my feelings, my thoughts, my qualities, my values, my missions, my people and even the devotion and dedication for NAMA that I cherished for decades! My inner world full of love, justice, freedom and joy; appears deserted! This void is killing! I feel as if I cease to exist!
Teacher: Indeed your puzzle is uncommon! Very few people may be facing this!
The reason for your questions is this. We, who are actually beyond time; are trapped and wrapped in time, space and energy and the sensations, instincts, feelings and thoughts. This is actually trivialization of our selves. But this happens in most of us.
As a result we get addicted to this caricature state; and all the subjectivity and/or pettiness inherent to it!
As and when our true self - NAMA; involves us in its SMARAN i.e. NAMASMARAN, we begin to get deaddicted to our caricature state. But this deaddiction is painful. It does not happen as smoothly as we would have liked it! There are hiccups!
Your “helplessness and sinking” is the result of the “abstinence syndrome”, as is seen initially; in a drug addict, when denied a drug!
Student: Does everyone go through such deaddiction?
Teacher: Everyone goes through this process but variably. Everyone may not confront with the same questions and the same experiences. But this happens in every being and is often experienced by many as some inexplicable and indescribable restlessness referred to as; VISHVAACHE AARTA by Saint Dnyaneshvar.
Student: Can this happen due to physical pains?
Teacher: This happens due to the experience of physical pains, transient nature of pleasures, nostalgia of lost moments, dejected feeling due to alienation from the global events; and so on! All this is due to the process of “our retrieval to original state; from our amalgamation” with our caricature existence.
Student: What should I do?
Teacher: Always remember that the future road map is inbuilt in this state! The NAMA, true self or Guru; would involve you in NAMASMARAN and “restore” you from body and senses; to you original subtle nature! You WOULD get freed from the “hitherto cherished possessions as well as your caricature self”! Ultimately when you become the void itself, you would find NO VOID; BUT the whole universe TO BE within you!

PATRIOTISM AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
PATRIOTISM AND NAMASMARAN: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Patriotism as a virtue; is held high by many of us. But why is it not actually practiced by majority of us? Is it because majority of us are petty, selfish, sectarian and timid?
Teacher: It is inappropriate to be judgmental about this. But even if it was true; we could still contribute to the nation; if the ambiance in every nook and corner and in every field of life; could become conducive to progressing from selfishness to Self Realization!
Such ambiance would transform the perspective, thinking, feelings, plans, programs and behavior of even the world, who would join hands with such a nation; with love and respect.
Student: What needs to be done to have such an ambiance?
Teacher: NAMASMARAN is the key to usher in such an ambiance, which would make the patriotism a generalized satisfying practice; from its present state of being a practice of few; and a matter of awe, worship or even dismissal as being “impractical”; by majority of us.
Student: Is there any proof for this?
Teacher: No! There is no proof! This is just a perception. Rather; this is a prompting of inner voice. Indeed it is subjective and can only be proved or disproved after being verified on global scale.
Student: Would the majority accept this?
Teacher: What if the majority gets the same prompting from within?

ELECTIONS AND NAMASMARAN DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
ELECTIONS AND NAMASMARAN DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir! I find it difficult to concentrate on NAMASMARAN amidst the cacophony of election fever!
Teacher: The elections and the people involved in them directly or indirectly are doing their job according to their perceptions and their capacities. We should do our job according to our perceptions and our capacities!
Student: But I get disturbed because; it appears to me that I am not getting involved in the process of ushering in the golden age for India!
Teacher: The process of NAMASMARAN is central and crucial to golden age! In absence of it the ‘golden age’ would become sectarian and subjective!
Student: Are you sure?
Teacher: I am cent per cent sure!
Student: But why does the practice of NAMASMARAN appear irrelevant?
Teacher: That is because we are still far away from our inner ocean of light and power - the NAMA! We need victorious and steadfast efforts to practice and propagate NAMASMARAN!
Student: Thank you Sir! I shall try my best!

BOREDOM AND NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
BOREDOM AND NAMASMARAN DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Student: Sir! When I get up there is a lousy feeling. I don’t feel fresh! There is a strange kind of boredom, in which I drowned!
Teacher: This is a common complaint.
Student: What is the cause; and what is the cure?
Teacher: Neither the animals nor the emancipated individuals are bored! But majority of us are overwhelmingly dragged by our basal instincts; and we are crippled due to being starved of our innate nectar - the ambrosia.
Hence the cause of the boredom is the deprivation from our ambrosia and the cure is to drink the ambrosia incessantly through the practice of NAMASMARAN!
If we try to practice NAMASMARAN continuously, then the days, nights and the mornings would be increasingly (not completely and suddenly right from the outset!) vibrantly buoyant, dynamic; and the boredom would gradually disappear.
Student: Would this free us from the feeling of vanity?
Teacher: Yes! NAMASMARAN would free us from the feeling of vanity, which arises due to the repeated experience of hollowness inbuilt in mere gratification the basal instincts.
Student: But aren’t the basal instincts inbuilt in life? How and why should we hate and try to escape from them?
Teacher: Is it not true that along with the basal instincts; the innate ocean of the ambrosia is also inbuilt in life?
Student: Yes; it appears to be true.
Teacher: It is; cent per cent true. Therefore at least those of us; who ascertain the vanity of gratification of mere basal instincts time and again; should practice NAMASMARAN i.e. imbibe the innate ambrosia and share our fulfillment with others! Don’t you agree?
Student: I tend to agree; but I don’t know how to convince myself to get rid of the temptations which we come across every now and then! Abstinence is painful and indulgence is hollow!
Teacher: I don’t get into the dilemma of abstinence and indulgence! All these are peripheral things and fall apart in the course of time if we remain stuck to the central and crucial point; of trying steadfastly to be in NAMASMARAN and sharing it with others!
