TUKARAM CHAITANYA: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
TUKARAM CHAITANYA: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Near Nanded (A city in the state of Maharashtra in India); there is a small place called Yehelgaon. There lived an extremely pious and illustrious Deshastha Yajurvedi Brahmin couple named Kashinathpant and Parvati. They did not have an issue.

After penance for some years; Parvati gave birth on Kartiki Ekadashi of shaka 1745 i.e. roughly 1823 AD; to a bright son as Shri Dattatreya had assured her in dream; that he would incarnate as her son.

They named him Tukaram.

Later he was named Tukaram Chaitanya by his guru; Swami Chinmayananda of Umarkhed. The other two disciples of Chinmayananda were Gocharswami and Shri Shewalkar.

Tukaram Chaitanya later became the spiritual guru of Brahmachaitanya Maharaj Gondavalekar; around 1860.

The Samadhi of Tukaram Chaitanya is in Yehelgaon and that of Chinmayananda is in Umarkhed.

I never came across anything about Shri Tukaram Chaitanya in any of y curricular books during my education till I passed my MD (Physiology).

I have written this small write up as a homage and tribute to Prof. K. V. Belsare; who wrote the biography of Shri Brahmachaitanya Maharaj Gondavlekar; and provided this extremely vital and valuable information to us. It is by virtue of reading this biography; that I got involved in NAMASMARAN and understood (though the ultimate control is of; GOD, cosmic consciousness, or SADGURU):

1. India is unique in her greatest ever treasure of connection with God (the eternal immortal bliss, the absolute objective truth, the cosmic consciousness); through; thousand of her illustrious sons and daughters; the saints, prophets, seers and yogis.

2. In other words; India’s treasure is; eternal immortal bliss; personified throughout the history; over millennia.

3. The ultimate solace for any inhabitant of the universe; is said to be; the eternal immortal bliss; mentioned above. Nothing else; how much ever hyped; comes to rescue!

4. Hence; when people of the world; get exasperated and exhausted; by religious, intellectual, ideological and political conflicts and indiscriminate violence on the one hand; and indulgence that drains the spirit and erodes from within; on the other; and begin to desperately seek peace and harmony; they would certainly get it; in India.

5. This is also because; even as India may look sick and sultry; and be ridiculed and betrayed by her own inhabitants; from time to time; the places of pilgrimage; spread in nook and corner of India; ooze out and emanate ambrosia of eternal immortal bliss; and provide solace to every visitor; without any kind of discrimination!

6. The seekers of truth from any and every corner of the world; are not only bound to get the ambrosia of eternal immortal bliss, in India; but also; the inspiration of the holistic perspective, policies, plans, programs and their implementation; so much pivotal and vital in individual and universal blossoming i.e. holistic renaissance.

GHOSTS AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS JANARDAN KASHALIKAR
GHOSTS AND NAMASMARAN: DR. SHRINIWAS JANARDAN KASHALIKAR

The words such as ghosts, spirits (and synonyms such as bhoot, pishaccha, hadal, devachar, sammandha, mrutatma, pretatma; in Indian languages) indicate inexplicable, intangible phenomena; often written off as “psychological”; while hardly knowing mind!!

When a common man thinks of various problems unexplainable on physical, chemical or any other basis, he or she tends to attribute the problems to the entities mentioned above.

The modern medical experts, who laugh/ridicule at these terms, must introspect and admit to themselves that they do not know anything about physiological location, extent, dimensions and chemical/physical characteristics of mind, to which they attribute all these phenomena.

Let us not take pride on our semantics! Let us not fight over the semantics. Let us not hide our ignorance and boost our self destructive arrogance with the crutches of so called modern or traditional terms; such as idiopathic, schizophrenia, hysteria and ghosts, spirits etc. respectively!

Let us understand that whether we conceive the inexplicable phenomena in terms of modern terms or traditional terms, what matters is, whether we can conquer them, and if so how!

Just as we can not define and demonstrate ghost, so also, we can not define and demonstrate subconscious, unconscious and other phenomena attributed to and described in relation to mind in psychology and psychiatry. They are only ideas, experienced or agreed upon by some.

In my experience, self empowerment is the most important and common answer irrespective of semantics.

According to me, various problems including mental problems begin to get minimized and milder, in the process of practice of NAMASMARAN; in accordance with one’s tradition. The various means and techniques for empowerment and enlightenment such as medicaments, yogasana, pranayama, and various other remedies can work as adjuvant measures, which evolve around the transtemporal cosmic consciousness NAMA.

It is said that, NAMASMARAN enables us to conquer (and even emancipate) ghosts; partially explainable as psychosomatic and other individual and social problems. NAMASMARAN is the hallmark and also the core of individual and cosmic blossoming along with dissolution of disputes in the common sublime experience!

Shall we verify this, together with our family and friends?

THE BUSINESS OF FEAR: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
THE BUSINESS OF FEAR: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

There is a systematic generation and propagation of unfounded fear psychosis.

The insurance companies, medical business, cosmetic and so many other industries thrive on this.

The fear of ghee, coconut oil, un-iodized salt or Bengal gram and many other naturally occurring products has lead to flourishing of businesses producing alternative products.

But financial gains resulting from monstrous and sick minded competition; invariably lead to epidemic and pandemic spread of dissatisfaction, disturbance, degeneration, disease and decay of individual and global life. The fear and insecurity affects everyone, including the perpetrators of insecurity!

The political business also thrives on fear and insecurity. This leads to brainwashing of the people with parochial, narrow, sectarian and cheap ideological agendas! This leads to the vicious cycle of fear and insecurity breeding each other in every walk of life; including the apparent beneficiaries!

The manifestation (application) of spiritual growth in perception, policy making, plans and their implementation at individual and global level are essential for individual and global welfare. We have to keep away all differences; and seriously find out if this is possible through NAMASMARAN!

STRESS, SUPERLIVING AND SPIRITUALISM: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS, SUPERLIVING AND SPIRITUALISM: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

The chasm between apparently sublime and intellectually appealing philosophical doctrines; and the nagging material conditions around; is a matter of inexplicable and unbearable STRESS; to many of us who are; sensitive, intelligent and hence concerned about justice to every individual; and welfare of all!

The ideas of heaven, nirvana, self realization, god realization, emancipation and so on; lure many young individuals amongst us, but they get disillusioned or go on persisting on it; helplessly!

Like spiritualism, the practice of NAMASMARAN also; has not appealed adequately; to the people in the world. Though billions are practicing namasmaran, many of them are not convinced enough; and billions others are not practicing! This is because; they neither experience divine bliss; nor witness any substantial and concrete material progress in social life.

Superliving is nothing else but, actually reunification of spiritualism and materialism. It is the process of holistic perception, feelings and actions; in terms of global perspective, policies, plans and implementation at individual, family and social level; born out of NAMASMARAN; and achieving holistic renaissance i.e. individual and universal blossoming!

STRESS AND OUR HOME: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND OUR HOME: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

One of the major causes of STRESS is; the nature of personality! It is multidimensional and heterogeneous and hence literally under tension from different sides!

We are; under suffering from shearing forces; from; physical body, instincts, emotions, intelligence, perspective, conscience and our soul! Similarly; we are also under strain; from our house, our village, our town, our province, our country and the world. In addition we also under tension from; our past, present, and future; and the varieties of our imaginary world!

Thus; we have all the STRESS, which the other living beings have; and; is further added with intricate and complex issues; making it a difficult proposition to handle and conquer.

However if we are able to walk on our way to “our home”; we encompass, engulf and digest this stress! When we get the glimpses of “our home” we realize that “our home” is not only deep within us; but also within the core of every particle of the whole universe!

This Total Stress Management is evident in what Saint Dnyaneshwar wrote in Marathi; in his all time great masterpiece; Dnyaneshvari.

HE VISHAVACHI MAJHEE GHARA AISI MATI JAYACHI STHIRA
KIMBAHUNA CHARACHARA APAN JHALA

(He himself; becomes the entire universe; whose instincts, emotions, intelligence and perspective; uphold solidly; "this whole universe is my home”!)

Total Stress Management (the core of which is NAMASMARAN), which begins with the study of meaning, causes, dimensions, effects, mechanisms; and through holistic perspective, policies, plans and programs; and actions; ultimately culminates in "Being" at “our home”, which is full of self generating eternal fountain of ambrosia.

TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT AND DIVORCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
TOTAL STRESS MANAGEMENT AND DIVORCE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

We are taught to stand, walk, jump, run, talk, read, write and many skills! But we are not inspired and guided to know and be ourselves! If we ponder over this; a bit seriously; then we would be convinced about it. In fact we don’t seem to realize that such inspiration and guidance; is even needed!

One of the effects of such lack of training; is the discord between husband and wife. When it becomes unbearable; it leads to divorce.

Barring the cases of perversions and criminality; most cases divorces are due to defeatist, escapist and hysterical pampering by us; of our ego. When our ego, pettiness and “illusion of freedom”; create the discord; and when our true self, conscience, selflessness, tolerance and love; are defeated, we resort to divorce; even if it comes to suffering; of our once beloved spouse, children and other near and dear ones.

But worse thing is; there is glorification and deification of divorce. This is a submission to our egocentric, inconsiderate and pathetic pettiness.

If we know and be “ourselves”, then we would never cherish divorce. Healthier and happier family life is one of the hallmarks of holistic renaissance (also called Total Stress Management or superliving) realized primarily; through the universal practice of NAMASMARAN.

(photo enclosed: Trophy being received by MPUH Team)

Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital (MPUH) Nadiad was on Friday presented with the Indian Merchants’ Chamber (IMC) Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award (RBNQA) 2011 for excellence in the healthcare category. The Award consists of a brilliant Trophy and a Citation. It is one of the most prestigious Quality Awards in the country. The IMC-RBNQ Awards are modeled along the lines of the Malcolm Baldrige criteria of the USA and follow a rigorous process of training and evaluation. The unstated mission of the IMC RBNQA Trust is to catalyze India into a global power. MPUH is the first hospital in Gujarat to win this coveted Quality Trophy. The trophy was presented by the Member of Parliament and former Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr. Shashi Tharoor, at a glittering function at the YB Chavan Auditorium on Friday evening, following the culmination of the two-day ‘Making Quality Happen Conference’ at IMC Mumbai. During the conference, a 30-minutes’ presentation was made by Dr Mahesh Desai, Medical Director & Managing Trustee of the hospital, highlighting the quality initiatives and best practices followed at MPUH and the results thereof. The idea behind the conference is to encourage similar organizations in various sectors of the Indian economy to undertake their own quality and performance improvement efforts, and evolve core values from ‘managing for improvement’ to ‘managing for innovation’.

The citation states that “MPUH is a not-for-profit super specialty hospital providing leading-edge treatment in Nephrology and Urology through patient services and medical camps. It is world renowned for its minimal invasive surgery including robotic assisted surgeries, LESS surgery, endo-urology, uro-oncology, stone treatment, prostate, bladder and renal transplants. As a pioneer in the field of npehro-urology, the hospital enjoys a preeminent position as a centre for excellence for treatment, teaching, training, original research and evidence based clinical practices under one roof. To keep pace with the latest and appropriate technological and medical advances, MPUH has arrangements with foreign institutions for sharing of data and expertise.”

The Award winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges, chaired by Mr. Anand Mahindra. Earlier, a team of specially trained Examiners designated by the IMC RBNQA had evaluated MPUH on seven criteria spanning leadership; strategic planning; focus on patients, other customers and markets; measurement analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management; and results. The Award Criteria emphasize on openness and transparency in governance and ethics, the need to create value for customers, and the challenges of rapid innovation and capitalizing on knowledge assets.

In his response address, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Shri Rohit Patel recalled the humble beginning of the hospital in 1978 and the great roles played by the founding Trustees including his late father Shri Jayaramdas Patel who was the Founding Chairman. He said that the growth of the hospital to its present position was possible thanks to the effective team work of the Board of Trustees, doctors, and the entire hospital staff.

STRESS AND INTROSPECTION: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND INTROSPECTION: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

STRESS can cause the triggering of introspection and introspection can uncover the hidden STRESS. If we introspect; then STRESS appears to increase with aging. This may be also because aging is associated with retirement and hence scarcity of resources and abundance of time creating mental vacuum.

The guides in print and electronic media; on fitness, home remedies, diet, exercise, yogasanas, entertainment, hobbies and charitable activities are in plenty. The guidance in all these is valuable and helps many of us in overcoming STRESS.

Thus many of us try to improve health, avoid disease, preserve independence, develop fitness, enhance performance, stamina, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, physical form, looks etc. and also engage in philanthropy and conquer the stress.

They take regular bath, eat green leafy vegetables and sprouted beans and other nutritionally rich foods, drink cow milk with halad [turmeric] and sunth [dried ginger], practice pranayama and some exercises and yogasanas, joyously entertain themselves and others through their hobbies, do lot of philanthropic work and also practice NAMASMARAN, i.e. remembering the name of God and try to defeat stress!

But having said this in appreciation; we have to introspect; why the efforts required urgently; for a holistic perspective, policies and their implementation; for conquest of stress are still inadequate!

Is it because the holistic perspective, policy making and its implementation have not become the convictions of a huge majority of us?

Why do majority of us tend to think in a sectarian and fragmented manner, especially when they are not criminals, vicious or bad as such?

Is it because the holistic perspective is not being studied, understood, assimilated, promoted and propagated adequately?

Why is this so?

Do most of us think and feel that holistic perspective, policies, programs, plans and their implementation; appears to be unrelated to the basic needs of life?

What is the reason for such unawareness about even the need of understanding, practice and propagation of holistic perspective, policies, plans, programs and their implementation?

Why is there such a dearth of motivation amongst apparently intelligent, kind hearted and well meaning people amongst us?

Is the reason hidden in our ego, our passionate involvement in our subjective self identity, our strong and selective sentiments about our own bodily, emotional, intellectual and other considerations?

Does our ego prevent us from zealously acquiring and sharing the objective wisdom?

Do we tend to remain content or unhappy in our egoistic subjective “achievements” or “failures” respectively?

Are we unable to see the benevolence of objective wisdom, because of undue judgmental attitude; about the personal “shortcomings or drawbacks” of the proponents of holistic perspective?

Are we unable to rise above our relationship/s and prejudices, centered on ego?

Do we; more often than not; ridicule and oppose; actively or passively and overtly or covertly; and knowingly or unknowingly; such efforts of sharing objective or holistic wisdom; and boost the ego centered sectarian and retrogressive forces?

Do we infect the others also; with our cynicism?

Is it true that frequently our ego is associated with; not merely our material success in terms of popularity, power or prosperity; but even our egalitarianism, righteousness, austerity and our practice of NAMASMARAN?

Are we unable to penetrate and rise above the “clouds of our ego” and enjoy the “sky of universal unity”?

Is it because we are unable “see” and/or even strive for; the beauty beyond the ego?

Is it because we do not try to realize; the role of holistic and objective wisdom born out of NAMASMARAN; in rejuvenating, revitalizing and reorienting us to our true self?

Can we not appreciate the role of realization of true self and its expression for individual and global blossoming; the part of which is conquest of stress?

The only answer to these questions; appears to be that; the quantum and the intensity of NAMASMARAN and being oriented to the true self; or the center of cosmic consciousness; or the center of universe; has yet to reach the optimal point; for successfully conquering stress; through holistic perspective, policies, programs, planning and implementation at individual and global levels; in everyday life!

STRESS OF PROPAGANDA: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS OF PROPAGANDA: DR SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

There is always; a propaganda of something or other.

But often the loud, crude, aggressive and imposing propaganda; or repetitive, cheap and/or vulgar advertising comes on nerves. It irritates and upsets; and in this sense; is counterproductive.

This holds true irrespective of the object of propaganda. Hence; this is not with reference; merely to the commercial products; but also; with respect to commercial, professional or even charity services.

Why is this so?

It appears that this happens if we freedom lovers. We hate anything that strangles our freedom to live in ‘our natural way’. We love to follow our instinct or our inner voice. We love if we have situation that enhances listening to our inner voice.

The loud and cheap propaganda; create a cacophony and blur our inner voice!

Thus; the propaganda of NAMASMARAN also; if it is cheap and imposing; can come on our nerves. What is required is; a peaceful and harmonious environment (through provision of adequate and selfless information) that allows us; to contemplate and ponder on; nature of NAMA; and to sink into the universally benevolent spirit of NAMASMARAN; and make a choice of verifying it!

In conclusion; the practice of NAMASMARAN; is unquestionably vital and far more important than the impulsive propaganda. This is because; the practice of NAMASMARAN creates a blissful atmosphere that indirectly inspires others; without restricting their freedom; to practice NAMASMARAN and blossom together!

STRESS AND TOOTH PASTE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR
STRESS AND TOOTH PASTE: DR. SHRINIWAS KASHALIKAR

Apparently; stress has nothing to do with tooth paste.

But if we take a closer look at it; it does have.

Tooth paste is a commodity, on which non productive and extremely wasteful squandering of money goes on perennially on the TV and other media. This squandering on commercials or advertisements of various tooth pastes; is not merely useless but in fact a major STRESSOR.

These advertisements on TV and print media are irritatingly repetitive and deceptive. They create an entirely and ridiculously false picture of the results of tooth paste. This makes the tooth paste advertisements frightening (by repeated threat of infections and caries) and stressful (because; irrespective of the tooth paste; the dental problems continue).

Many a times we brush teeth only to show that we are “modern, progressive and advanced”; as we are brainwashed to believe; that use of DANTA DHAVAN or use of tooth powder for rubbing and cleaning teeth and gums; is primitive, unscientific; and backward!
Do we have the capacity to see through and overcome every possible kind of misleading hype and exploitative brain washing on media? If we facilitate our own blossoming from within and empower ourselves (through NAMASMARAN); to see, think, feel and act holistically; then we begin to conquer this STRESS of deceit!
Let us; resolve not to brainwash; and not to get brain washed! If we stop eating flesh, rub our teeth and gums with ayurvedic tooth powder; in a prayerful attitude; and with self esteem; and frequently wash and gargle; then we really don’t need tooth brush and paste; and won’t ever suffer from undue dental problems and obnoxious halitosis!
