Scope of Homeopathy in Cervical Spondylosis and Spondylitis
Cervical spondylosis refers to common age-related changes in the area of the spine at the back of the neck. With age, the vertebrae (the component bones of the spine) gradually form bone spurs, and their shock-absorbing disks slowly shrink. These changes can alter the alignment and stability of the spine. They may go unnoticed, or they may produce problems related to pressure on the spine and associated nerves and blood vessels. This pressure can cause weakness, numbness, and pain in various areas of the body. In severe cases, walking and other activities may be compromised.
As it runs from the brain down the back, the spinal cord is protected by ringlike bones, called vertebrae, stacked one upon the other. The vertebrae are not in direct contact with one another, however. The intervening spaces are filled with structures called disks. The disks are made up of a tough, fibrous outer tissue with an inner core of elastic or gel-like tissue.
One of the most important functions of disks is protecting the vertebrae and the nerves and blood vessels between the vertebrae. The disks also lend flexibility to the spinal cord, facilitating movements such as turning the head or bending the neck. As people age, disks gradually become tougher and more unyielding. Disks also shrink with age, which reduces the amount of padding between the vertebrae.
As the amount of padding shrinks, the spine loses stability. The vertebrae react by constructing osteophytes, commonly known as bone spurs. There are seven vertebrae in the neck; development of osteophytes on these bones is sometimes called cervical osteoarthritis. Osteophytes may help to stabilize the degenerating backbone and help protect the spinal cord.
By age 50, 25-50% of people develop cervical spondylosis; by 75 years of age, it is seen in at least 70% of people. Although shrunken vertebral disks, osteophyte growth, and other changes in their cervical spine may exist, many of these people never develop significant problems.
Osteophyte formation and other changes do not necessarily lead to symptoms, but after age 50, half of the population experiences occasional neck pain and stiffness. As disks degenerate, the cervical spine becomes less stable, and the neck is more vulnerable to injuries, including muscle and ligament strains. Contact between the edges of the vertebrae can also cause pain. In some people, this pain may be referred--that is, perceived as occurring in the head, shoulders, or chest, rather than the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo (a type of dizziness) or ringing in the ears.Cervical spondylosis can cause cervical spondylitic myelopathy through stenosis- or osteophyte-related pressure on the spinal cord.
Homeopathy cures cervical spondylosis permanently. Cases which do not get relief anywhere they get cure in Homeopathy. Homeopathy has vast range of more than 208 medicines for cervical spondylosis. It Takes 4 to 8 weeks in recent cases and longer time in more old cases to be cure. Homeopathic Medicines are prescribed on basis of individual symptom group, Modalities of pain and movements. Mild exercises are always advised with medicines. All the symtoms of cervical spondylosis and the individualising totality of the patient are considered to select the homoeopathic medicines.commonly indicated medicines are:Kalmia latifolia ,Lachnanthes tinctoria ,Rhus toxicodendron ,Cimicifuga racemosa, Bryonia alba , Magnesium phosphoricum , Nux vomica Gelsemium sempervirens , Calcarea fluorica , Phytolacca decandra Rhodium oxydatum nitricum , Strychninum purum , Belladonna Fel tauri, Ignatia amara , Kalium Nitricum, Rhododendron chrysanthum Silicea terra, Sulphur, Thuja occidentalis, Conium maculatum, Asarum europaeum, Causticum, Ammonium carbonicum, Calcarea carbonica Kalium Carbonicum, Paris quadrifolia, Menyanthes trifoliata

Hernia
nformation about hernias and hernia repair.

What is a hernia?

A hernia is the protrusion of an organ or tissue through an abnormal opening. Think of a ruptured tyre. When the tyre wall separates the inner tube can seep through the opening. Similarly when a hernia occurs tissue protrudes through the abdominal wall. As the hernia enlarges it forms a sac. Internal organs such as the intestines can fall into this sac creating one of the major hernia symptoms - a bulge.

A hernia induced bulge is most often visible when standing. Lying down allows the tissue in the sac to return to its proper position and the bulge temporarily disappears. While hernias occur throughout the body, 95% are in the groin area.

A hernia is a weakness or defect in the abdominal wall. It may be present from birth or develop over a period of time. If the defect is large enough, abdominal contents such as the bowel, may protrude through the defect causing a lump or bulge felt by the patient. Hernias develop at certain sites which have a natural tendency to be weak; the groin, the umbilicus (belly button) and previous surgical incisions.

How do I get HERNIA?
Hernias can be present at birth or occur over time due to stress and strain on the abdominal wall. Most hernias become apparent later in life because it takes time for the hernial sac to enlarge enough for tissue to fall into it.
What are my options?
Without surgery you simply tolerate the hernia. Wearing a truss or binder may temporarily alleviate symptoms but will not cure the hernia. Only surgery corrects the defect in the belly wall.

Why should hernias be repaired?
Once a hernia has developed it will tend to enlarge and cause discomfort. If a loop of bowel gets caught in the hernia it may become obstructed or its blood supply may be cut off. This could then become a life-threatening situation. Since hernias can be repaired effectively and with minimal risk most surgeons therefore recommend that hernias be repaired when diagnosed unless there are other serious medical problems.

How are hernias repaired?
The standard method of hernia repair involves making an incision in the abdominal wall. Normal healthy tissues are cut until the area of weakness is found. This area, the hernia, is then repaired with sutures (stitches). Usually a prosthetic material such as nylon is used to strengthen the area of weakness. (A nylon mesh patch or plug). Finally the skin and other healthy tissues that were cut at the beginning are stitched back together to complete the repair.

How does the laparoscopic method differ?
With the laparoscopic repair the defect in the abdominal wall is repaired from the inside of the abdominal cavity. This method is usually only used for groin hernias. Instead of closing or patching the repair from the outside the patch is secured in place from the inside. This eliminates the necessity of cutting the skin and normal tissues of the groin to get down to and repair the hernia.

What causes hernias?
Hernias are caused by congenital (defects at birth) or age-related weaknesses in the abdominal wall. In males they are caused by an improper closure of the abdominal cavity during the body's development in the womb. They can also be caused by an increase in pressure within the abdominal cavity due to heavy lifting, straining, violent coughing, obesity or pregnancy.

Signs and Symptoms
Lump in groin area when standing/straining and disappears when reclining

Pain at the site of the lump especially when lifting a heavy object

Swelling of the scrotum

Excruciating abdominal pain (if you have strangulation)

Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite and pain (if intestinal obstruction occurs)

Do you have any of these health problems?

It will be important for your doctor and specialist to know if you have any health problems prior to recommending surgery. In particular your doctor will wish to know from you Any current illnesses

Any past health problems

Any previous operations

Any medications taken

Any allergies particularly to medicines

Any breathing difficulties or anaesthetic problems

Whether or not you smoke

Recovery after Inguinal Hernia Surgery

Inguinal Hernia Surgery is sore! Don't believe anything different! Most patients will be comfortable for the first evening after surgery because we use a long acting local anaesthetic to control post-operative pain. As this wears off you will find the area becomes more uncomfortable. Discomfort is easy to control with oral analgesia which will be prescribed for you at the time of you operation.

You may experience a minor degree of swelling around the operation site, and often some minor bruising.

You will not be covered to drive your car by your insurance company for 48 hours following a general anaesthetic.

You can drive when you feel confident that you can safely perform an "emergency stop". This is usually between 7 and 10 days.

You can return to work when you feel able to. This may be in as little as 5 days but often is longer at 14 to 21 days.

You should not lift anything heavy following your repair for at least 6 weeks. This doesn't mean you can't lift anything, you just need to exercise a degree of common sense!

Recovery after Epigastric and Umbilical Hernia Repair

Most patients will recover very quickly from these operations. Discomfort is easily controlled with oral analgesia and the majority of patients should be able to return to work within the week following surgery. Driving is not usually a problem with this repair. However, if you hernia is big enough to require a mesh, then you may find your recovery is slightly longer.

Asthma
Asthma also called bronchial asthma, occurs when the airways in your lungs (bronchial tubes) become inflamed and constricted. The muscles of the bronchial walls tighten, and your airways produce extra mucus that blocks your airways. Signs and symptoms of asthma range from minor wheezing, cough, difficult exercising, shortness of breath, chest tightness to life-threatening asthma attacks, needing ventilatory support.

Causes
It isn't clear why some people get asthma and others don't, but it's probably due to a combination of environmental and genetic (inherited) factors.

Asthma triggers are different from person to person. Exposure to various allergens and irritants can trigger signs and symptoms of asthma, including:

Airborne allergens, such as pollen, animal dander, mold, cockroaches and dust mites
Respiratory infections, such as the common cold
Physical activity (exercise-induced asthma)
Cold air
Air pollutants and irritants such as smoke
Certain medications, including beta blockers, aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Strong emotions and stress
Sulfites, preservatives added to some perishable foods
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which stomach acids back up into your throat
Menstrual cycle in some women
Allergic reactions to foods such as peanuts or shellfish

Diagnostic tests -
1. Bedside clinical exam by a physician to determine wheezing/whistling sounds, however wheezing can occur in several other conditions too
2. Measurement of lung function by spirometry or pulmonary function tests

Treatment -

Inhaled corticosteroids - These medications reduce airway inflammation and are the most commonly used long-term asthma medication. Unlike oral corticosteroids, these medications are considered relatively low risk for long-term corticosteroid side effects. You may need to use these medications for several days to weeks before they reach their maximum benefit.

Long-acting beta-2 agonists. These inhaled medications, called long-acting bronchodilators, open the airways and reduce inflammation. They are often used to treat persistent asthma in combination with inhaled corticosteroids. Long-acting bronchodilators should not be used for quick relief of asthma symptoms.

Leukotriene modifiers reduce inflammation and decreasing mucus production.
Cromolyn and nedocromil - thought to decrease allergic reactions
Theophylline, a daily pill that opens your airways (bronchodilator) along with increase contraction of your respiratory muscles, helping breathing.

Quick-relief medications
Also called rescue medications, you use quick-relief medications as needed for rapid, short-term relief of symptoms during an asthma attack, or before exercise, if your doctor recommends it.

Short-acting beta-2 agonists, such as albuterol. These inhaled medications, called bronchodilators, ease breathing by temporarily relaxing airway muscles. They act within minutes, and effects last four to six hours.

Ipratropium - Your doctor might prescribe this inhaled anticholinergic for the immediate relief of your symptoms. Like other bronchodilators, ipratropium relaxes the airways, making it easier to breathe. Ipratropium is mostly used for emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Oral and intravenous corticosteroids to treat acute asthma attacks or very severe asthma. Examples include prednisone and methylprednisolone. These medications relieve airway inflammation. They may cause serious side effects when used long term, so they're only used to treat severe asthma symptoms.

Medications for allergy-induced asthma. These decrease your body's sensitivity to a particular allergen or prevent your immune system from reacting to allergens. Allergy treatments for asthma include:

Immunotherapy. Allergy-desensitization shots (immunotherapy). Over time, they gradually reduce your immune system reaction to specific allergens.

Anti-IgE monoclonal antibodies. This medication reduces your immune system's reaction to allergens.

SMART WAYS TO LIVE WELL – PREVENTION OF INCONTINENCE
INCONTINENCE :
Fecal incontinence is the inability to control bowel movements, causing stool (feces) to leak unexpectedly from the rectum. Also called bowel incontinence, fecal incontinence can range from occasional stool leakage while passing gas to complete loss of bowel control.
Common causes of fecal incontinence include constipation, diarrhea, and muscle or nerve damage. The condition may be associated with aging and childbirth. Fecal incontinence can cause people to stay at home and withdraw from social events because an embarrassing accident. An estimated 5.5 million Americans, more commonly older people and women, suffer from fecal incontinence.
Surgical Repair of the Anal Sphincter
In patients who have significant fecal incontinence with damage to the muscles but not to the nerves of the anal sphincter, surgery may be the best option. Surgical options include:
* A sphincteroplasty to repair the damaged or weakened anal sphincter
* Surgical repair of rectal prolapse, rectocele or hemorrhoids
* A colostomy to divert the stool into a special bag (used only as a last resort)
* ANAL BAND : The unique ARTIFICIAL ANAL SPHINCTER :
INDICATED IN:
1.Permanent Colostomy after cancer surgery
2.Permanent Colostomy after accident surgery
3.Incontinence after sphincter damage due to accident or surgery or childbirth

SAY NO TO COLOSTOMY
Can Bowel Incontinence Be Prevented?
Since fecal incontinence in women is often caused by anal muscle or nerve damage that occurred during childbirth, prevention is not always possible. However, if the use of forceps can be avoided during childbirth, the period of labour not prolonged and the baby not delivered too rapidly, injury to the pelvic muscles and nerves can be avoided.
Also, chronic constipation may result in incontinence. Getting sufficient water, fiber and exercise can be effective in treating constipation .

SCOPE FOR HOMEOPATHY TREATMENT IN RENAL FAILURE BY DR HARSHAD RAVAL MD HOMEOPATHY INDIA
Renal failure is a final common path way for a number of disease processes and associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In modern medicine approach kidney treatment, like dialysis and kidney transplant is not rational approach but its temporary phase, not complete cure to end stage renal failure or CRF (Chronic Renal Failure). The kidneys attempt to compensate for renal damage by excessive straining of the blood within the remaining functional filtering units that consist of a glomerulus and corresponding tubule. Over time, hyper filtration causes further loss of function.

Homeopathy medicine develops immunity in damage nephrons of kidney, so that kidney function is not damaged further and there is decrease in s.creatinin and BUN level with every passing day.

End stage of renal failure caused due to diabetes mellitus or Hypertension, the patient has S.creatinin level between 6 and 7. In this stage we can cure or re-establish kidney or renal functions by homeopathy medicine. Patient with no blood pressure or diabetes has S.creatinie level of more than 6. In early stage homeopathy medicine reestablishes Kidney functions very well. There are not curative procedures for CRF but instead they keep a person alive by performing the crucial functions of the kidneys. Homeopathy stimulates one’s immune system to perform normal functions and in this way damaged kidneys start functioning normally.

TYPE OF RENAL FAILUR PATIENT :

Pre renal
Decreased blood flow is one cause of damage to the kidney. Acute renal failure may occur when there is extremely low blood pressure; the patient may suffer from trauma, septic shock, haemorrhage, severe vomiting, diarrhea, burns and associated dehydration or other severe or complicated illness.

Intra renal
Renal failure usually occurs as the internal structures of the kidney is suddenly or slowly destroyed. It is a complex chronic failure commonly noticed with hypertension, and diabetes damage the vascular walls. Smoking causes atherosclerotic changes of the arterial walls.

Post renal
A simple mechanical or functional obstruction to the free flow of urine precludes, its excretion and renal failure occurs. It commonly happens with kidney stones, urethral stricture and prost. The symptoms are sudden in acute renal failure and gradual in chronic.

Sine and Symptoms:

Increased Blood pressure, Weight Loss, Proteins pass in urine, General weakness, Persistent fatigue and shortness of breath, Loss of appetite, Pale, dry and itchy skin, Muscular cramps and twitching, Headache, nausea, vomit and hiccups.

SCOPE FOR HOMEOPATHY TREATMENT BENEFIT FOR KIDNEY PATIENTS:

Persons suffering from Early stage renal failure due to Diabetes and Hypertension must take homeopathic treatment.
Healthy persons who have strong family history of renal failure should take classical homeopathic treatment to avoid the risk of renal failure.
Persons who are having symptoms of early renal failure of unknown etiology, then homeopathy medicine work very well.
Kidney patients of any stage should start homeopathic treatment at the earliest, in order to avoid passing into complete renal failure.
Patients who are waiting for renal transplant should start homeopathic treatment which can stop the urgent need of kidney donor.
Patients who are on dialysis can get rid of the frequent dialysis by taking classical homeopathic treatment.
Let us say it is never too late to start homeopathic treatment; all patients should start it as soon as they come to know about benefits of homeopathy.

ALLOPATHIC V/S HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT:

In comparison to life long treatment in Allopatht or conversional therapy, Homeopathic medicines can be stopped in 2 to 5 years depending on the severity and underlying causes of the disease.
Allopathy cannot repair damaged Kidney. Modern medicines try to facilitate the body’s waste products to pass out by the process of dialysis through artificial means or by a kidney transplanted from a Donor. Though Homeopathy does not provide any substitute for any organ (Kidney) but it can revive the damaged organ as it has been proven many times in my treatment of TB cases where I always found normal tissue in place of fibrocavitory lesions.
Allopathic process of dialysis cannot be stopped once a patient starts on it. As the time passes this procedure has to be done more frequently. Patient’s kidney starts improving as soon as he starts taking homeopathic treatment. It helps the patient to withdraw from dialysis.
There is very high percentage of rejection of new kidney received from a Donor but if such patient starts taking homeopathic treatment that would minimize the rejection percentage.
For Allopathic treatment the patient has to spend Rs.10000 to 20000/- per month exclusively on medicines. Expenses on hospital fee and investigations are superfluous. Homeopathic treatment cost depends upon the severity of the disease and knowledge and experience of the doctor. Even the costliest doctor's treatment remains quite economical as compared to allopathic expenses.
In case of patients who have received transplanted Kidneys, the diseases associated with Kidneys like Diabetes mellitus and Hypertension may become uncontrolled in spite of taking full medical care. But Classical Homeopathic treatment not only repairs the damaged kidneys but also it helps in maintaining the blood sugar and blood pressure to a normal level.
THE ROLE OF HOMEOPATHY IN CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE

Homoeopathy has already done a significant service to the society here, as hemodialysis and renal transplant are not within easy reach of majority of population in under- developed countries. In developing country hemodialysis and kidney transplant are very costly treatment service for CRF patients while homeopathy is cheaper & is an easy treatment.

Homeopathic treatment in CRF patients’ medical history:

Homeopathic medical science is great for renal failure patients, but unfortunately we have not received high number of cases.

Patients mostly complaining of nausea, anorexia and progressive weakness. The laboratory renal parameters are disturbed. The evolution of individualized, totality, modality, mentality, past and family history require lots of patience and labor but the results are marvelous.

Patients with end-stage chronic renal failure pending Hemodialysis & Renal Transplant:

This is the group of cases with maximum presentations in the clinics. Majority of these cases come to homoeopathic rescue as a last resort as they can't afford long-term dialysis and transplant.

The other small group of patients want to know the benefits of Homoeopathic treatment over dialysis and if Homoeopathic treatment be carried along with Hemodialysis? The clinical judgment is individualized and varies for every patient. Remember the correlation of uremic symptoms with renal functions varies from patient to patient.

Homeopathic treatment under long-term hemodialysis pending renal transplant:

Homeopathy has a great role to play here. Research experiments in various hospitals reveals the following facts:

Indicated homoeopathic remedies reduce the number of dialysis needed over a period of time.
Indicated homoeopathic remedies reduce and overcome the complications associated with chronic dialysis therapy.
Homeopathic treatment in dialysis complications

Remember a chronic dialysis patient depends on a machine for his life. These patients develop a variety of psychiatric, neurologic and somatic disorders. A neurologic disorder 'Dialysis dementia' is a characteristic example.

In the mental sphere, these patients become very depressive, their reduced physical abilities make them sad and depressive. They become very irritable.

In the physical sphere, infections, thrombosis and aneurysm formation occur in the Arterio-venous fistula. There is a high incidence of septic embolisation in these cases. The homoeopathic remedies Arnica chelendula Q have immensely helped these cases.

Heparin necessary during the hemodialysis procedures to prevent clotting leads to complications such as subdural hematoma and intracerebral hemorrhage. Arnica and different well-proved snake poisons in our Materia Medica are of great help here.

Homeopathic treatment for Post Renal Transplant Patients:

The group of patients coming for homoeopathic advice after Renal Transplant is very limited. Homeopaths have very little experience with these patients and the results are not very encouraging. Most of the symptoms here are marked and distorted by immune-suppressive therapy. Immune-suppressive therapy suppresses all immune responses and hence Homoeopathic treatment has not much role to play in organ rejection of transplant cases.

Currently we have over 400 active Kidney disease patient cases and this number reflects the results we are seeing. Over the last 10 years there had been more than 15,000 kidney patients and 12,000 Cancer cases. Many people approach to Homeopathy or Dr Harshad Raval MD[homeopathy] for treatment when the Kidney disease is advanced, has recurred, or they have exhausted all the conventional possibilities for treatment. These patients are offered improved quality of life and length of prognosis. Many families report that the patients live quite comfortably and actively.

Our results are confirmed by conventional laboratory testing, scans and ultrasound. Throughout our treatment we ask the patient to keep scheduled visits with Nephrologist, in order to monitor the progress. All our results are verifiable in this way. The treatment involves taking a dose of the Homeopathic medicine daily. The remedies are prescribed individually after an extensive interview.

BIOCHEMISTRY
It is common knowledge today that inorganic salts and trace elements play an important role in staying healthy and that a healthy diet is essential to a healthy body. In modern times more people are turning to the Biochemic method of healing. It is a simple treatment that is easy for people to understand, and it is quite inexpensive. Today, mineral supplements are readily available and easy to obtain, but this has not always been the case.

The Biochemic healing method began as the work and research of medical
Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler (1821-1898). Dr. Schuessler was a Doctor of medicine, a Physiological Chemist, and a Physicist who had a keen analytical mind and was able to co-ordinate the far-reaching physiological discoveries of great contemporary scientists. As a practicing physician he put his theories to the test and achieved the formulation of his unique system of cellular therapeutics. He named this system Biochemistry – the chemistry of living tissue.

Dr. Schuessler surmised that there are four simple principles of Biochemistry. Later agreed by Virchow (Principles of Cellular Pathology) and scientifically proven by Stahlkopf (1918-1972). These principles are:

Disease does not occur if cell metabolism is normal.

Cell metabolism is in turn normal if cell nutrition is adequate.

Nutritional substances are either of organic or inorganic nature as far as the body is concerned.

The ability of the body cells to assimilate and to excrete and further to utilize nutritional material is impaired if there is a deficiency in the inorganic (mineral salt) constituent of tissue.

Once Dr. Schuessler reached the conclusion that the normal function of the cell is dependant on a normal dosage of inorganic mineral salts, he was inspired to expand his Biochemic research, eventually concluding that the 12 most important mineral salts are:

Calcium Fluoride
Calcium Phosphate
Phosphate of Iron
Potassium Chloride
Potassium Phosphate
Potassium Sulphate
Magnesium Phosphate
Sodium Chloride
Sodium Phosphate
Sodium Sulphate
Silica Oxide
Calcium Sulphate

Dr. Schuessler believed that the body needed to maintain a proper balance of the twelve mineral salts in order to ensure normal cell function and good health. Any disruption to this balance would cause illness. He also believed that a normal balance of these vital mineral salts could be re-established with the administration of the deficient mineral salt in a readily assimilated form, which would pass rapidly into the bloodstream and body cells. Gunther Stahlkopf proved this simple logic scientifically in his research in the early 1900s.

Therefore the difference in the normal dosage of nutritious inorganic Mineral Salts especially the shortage of them was classified as the reason for the illness. Dr. Schuessler's therapies consisted in the medical supplement of the missing inorganic substances in order to keep the "balance". "One must not think that these supplements were to replace the missing", the idea is to stimulate, or send on information to the cells in order they again start to absorb their necessary inorganic mineral salts from the diet, in order to keep up the internal consistency. "If these mineral salts exist in an incorrect concentration, we have a situation we call illness" – Gunther Carl Stahlkopf ( Biologist).

This natural form of medicine is about – diagnosing which Mineral salt(s) are lacking in the organism – establishing the cause – treating by temporarily supplementing the required Mineral(s) in order to stimulate the cell system.

During the era of natural sciences, these fundamentals were improved upon with the help of Biology, Medicine, Physiology and Chemistry. All of these fields are now a part of common Biochemics. It is a comprehensive discipline, the knowledge of the basic legitimacy of life, where every change, illness, intellectual achievement and spiritual movement is connected with a specific chemical transformation of the cells, both internally and externally. The mineral substances play a major role in these Biochemic processes. The work of the Clinical Biochemist we refer to today is to normalize the disturbed chemical balance of an organism. Schuessler's decision to call his new therapy "Biochemic" must therefore be seen as a historical one.

Although Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler died in Oldenburg in 1898 at the age of 76, the story of his research and Biochemics did not end there. His work continues throughout the world to this day, as doctors and scientists strive to make even more progress in the amazing field of Biochemistry.

“Cosmic Healing”
Cosmic Healing Foundation
“Cosmic Healing”

In recent years, the field of Alternate Medicinal Therapies (AMT) has evolved with a great pace and that too with proper scientific proofs. The masses have started talking about meditation, Reiki, yoga etc as most of us have turned towards some or other fields among these, for the curement of our health and psychological problems. On the other hand, these fields have also shown more than expected results thereby strengthening people's faith in such process of curement which work on absolutely different rules as Allopathy or Homoeopathy works.

Among these fields, another name that has evolved in recent years is ‘Cosmic Healing’ and it is the only organization that practices and teaches cosmic healing. ‘Cosmic Healing’ is somewhat close to Reiki as it too works on the similar principles as Reiki does. Then what exactly is the difference? "Dr. Yogesh Mathur" says that, 'Cosmic Healing can be called "Reiki" but the difference lies in the way our organization teaches it'. Cosmic Healing Foundation not only teaches to work on the human body but on non-living things too. As per Dr. Mathur, Each and every thing that exists is made up of similar particles and elements but the difference in their configuration makes them either living or non-living thing. Cosmic Energy is nothing but the universal energy. Moreover to that, most of the institutions that conduct Reiki and Meditation sessions around, present it merely in a spiritual format rather than focusing on its scientific roots. A scientific platform not only helps us understand the topic in a better manner but on the other hand we can compare the spiritual explanations of these subjects with the scientific theories thereby coming to the conclusion that our civilization's ancient science is not just a myth and holds strong points.

In between the above conversation the question that might arise is, what exactly is Universal Energy? We all know about the famous British scientist "Professor Stephen Hawking". According to his theories, there exists an unknown form of energy in the universe, which is present in infinite limits. He named this energy as 'Dark Matter' and it is this dark matter that binds stars, planets and galaxies together. If this energy has such an immense effect on the objects of the universe, it must also effect the human civilization. If discussed in a simpler form, we receive energy when we sleep. We use this energy to continue with our daily routine. But as we never get an enough amount of this energy, we get tired and fall ill. With a similar lifestyle for years, our diseases get stronger and the immune system gets damaged. This is where Cosmic Healing works.

Lets us also take a glimpse in the ancient science, which is mentioned in our Vedas and puranas. With an experience of 32 years as a homoeopathic physician, Dr. Mathur himself used to have complete faith in modern science and often underwent reasoning when discussed about the science of rishi munees. Once while going through a fragment of one of the Vedas, he found a small shloka, which mentioned about the presence of electrons, protons and neutrons in every aspect of life. It also discussed about electricity and possibility of humans to travel from one place to another without any materialistic object. After practicing cosmic healing in the recent years, he no more considers the ancient science as a myth. Dr. Mathur says, "the ancient science that earlier used to create a topsy-turvy situation for me while I heard about it is rather a motivating and inspiring factor to understand nature and its effect on us in a better way". He no more rejects any given concept, theory or observation of any of the students and instead support them for further research. A lot of his students are researching on Aura while some other are busy researching on enhancing the immune system of the body against any form of disease and the results as per them are commendable.

Cosmic Healing Foundation has been teaching a number of students since a long time back and has made a remarkable identity. Apart from classes, a routine of workshops make the students practice on various objects, which helps in better understanding of the sensitivity of those objects towards the flow of cosmic energy in them. The human body is the prime target of every student and just by scanning the aura; the problematic area of the body can be traced without even asking the patient. Also, Cosmic healing is quick enough that by the time a medicine tablet will reach the stomach of a patient, a person on the other hand, receiving cosmic energy will start feeling much better.

As far as the success rate of Cosmic Healing Foundation is concerned, 'Dr. Mathur' and his students have worked on a lot of critical cases. The most memorable ones among them are, an old lady suffering from cancer was taken to mumbai for surgery. Weighing just 28 kilograms, the doctors were afraid of operating her, as she had no energy to handle an operation. Dr. Mathur while sitting in Delhi provided her with distant healing and also sent some quartz crystals, which were placed under her bed to enhance the treatment. Unbelievably, she not only survived the operation but was also shifted to general ward after just 1 hour of surgery. Also in one of the cases, a man suffering from 80 per cent tumor in brain was provided with cosmic energy, 2 days before his surgery and he too survived and was back at home on the second day. There are a number of cases enlisted with Cosmic Healing Foundation which prove that, cosmic healing is not only an independent curing therapy but can also catalyze the ongoing treatments of any disease. Also, there is a particular field in cosmic healing known as 'Psychic surgery’, which is also conducted without even touching the patient but produces the same results as a surgery does? Sounds shocking? Say for an example, a person is suffering from stones in bladder. A cosmic healing practitioner sits in front of him and will performs 'psychic surgery' which might last an hour. And on the very day or next day, that person finds that the size of the stones has reduced by looking in an ultrasound report. Then it must be such an incident, which will open up his mind, which will demand to think about it.

Cosmic Healing Foundation also teaches various subjects such as 'Cosmic Crystal Therapy', Cosmic- Pyramidal Vaastu Therapy' and 'Distant Healing'. These subjects are useful for people related to IT sector as all computer geeks no that the motherboard of a CPU has a crystal used for programming. So a course in Cosmic crystal therapy might help him in his field. Also, students of architecture can do a course in Cosmic- pyramidal vaastu therapy but the main focus of Cosmic healing foundation are those people who are undergoing a stressful lifestyle and those who want to get cured. It is always a better option to learn cosmic healing rather than seeking the help of some or other practitioner as there is no eligibility to learn it. Anyone can learn it and become a good practitioner by practice.

IS CONSTIPATION TROUBLING YOU ?
Most cases of constipation respond to conservative treatment such as dietary and lifestyle changes or mild laxatives. here are the tips ----

Dietary changes include getting enough of the recommended daily amount of fiber (20 to 35 grams), drinking 64 ounces of water or juice a day, and limiting foods that have little or no fiber, such as ice cream, cheese, meat and processed foods.

Lifestyle changes consist of exercising, reserving enough time to have a bowel movement and having a bowel movement when needed. The above two measures have cured 90% of my patients.

Next measure is to use laxatives----
Laxatives may be recommended if the above changes did not help the constipation.

There are four types of laxatives - bulk-forming, stimulant, lubricant and saline. Bulk-forming laxatives, increase the volume of feces, making them softer and easier to pass. Stimulant laxatives, such as Dulcolax, Purge, stimulate the intestinal wall to contract. Lubricant laxatives, such as mineral oil, soften the stool so it is easier to pass. Saline laxatives, such as Milk of Magnesia, Citrate of Magnesia and Haley's M-O, increase the concentration of salts within the feces.

Other treatment methods may include:

Bowel retraining - may provide relief for people who have gotten into the habit of ignoring the urge. If a tight schedule has produced a tight sphincter, it may help to sit on a toilet, with book in hand, about 20 minutes each morning to encourage a return of reflexes that have disappeared. Straining is not recommended, since it may lead to tightening of muscles that should be relaxed for comfortable defecation.

Rectal suppositories - helpful in providing lubrication and in stimulating the defecation reflex. They are usually composed of glycerin, which is sometimes blended with sodium sterate, a fatty acid. Bisacodyl-containing suppositories have added potency, because they act directly on the bowel to stimulate emptying.

Enemas - usually become attractive only when oral laxatives cannot do the job. Introducing water into the colon helps to stimulate defecation. "Disposable" enemas deliver a solution of highly concentrated, nonabsorbable salts into the rectum and sigmoid colon. These salts attract an outpouring of fluid into the bowel and thus promote bowel contraction. Oil-containing enemas are sometimes recommended as softeners for feces that have become hardened within the rectum.

Biofeedback - may be recommended for people with chronic constipation caused by anorectal dysfunction. Biofeedback involves using a sensor to monitor muscle activity displayed on a computer screen allowing for accurate assessment of body functions. With this information, the doctor helps the person learn how to use the anorectal muscles.

Surgery - Surgical removal of the colon may be an option for people with severe symptoms caused by colonic inertia (lack of movement in the colon) and unremitting extreme constipation. it is done when all other measures fails.

Hair Loss
Hair loss is medically termed as alopecia, meaning loss of hair from any hair bearing area of the body.
Hair in primitive animals served an important function as it covered entire body surface and helped in maintaining body temperature, with the evolution of animals into human beings the hair coverage of the body declined gradually, in the end the hair coverage practically covering the scalp, eye brow, eye lashes. In human beings, function of hair is practically cosmetic as it forms an important part of appearance of a human being. Loss of hair causes significant psychological effect in many human beings.
Hair is appendage of the skin, which grows in a cycle. There are 3 phases in a hair cycle, namely
Anagen – this is the growing phase, the duration of this phase determines the length of the hair. Most of the hairs are in this phase.
Catagen – this is the stage where hair growth stops and it starts involuting. This phase lasts for few weeks
Telogen – this is the resting phase, here the hair which have stopped growing are held till they are shed off, this lasts for 2-3 months
Exogen – this is the phase of hair shedding
Every hair goes through this cycle, to keep producing the hair. Any disturbances in this hair cycle can cause significant hair loss. As some of the hairs are in a phase where they have to be shed, it is normal for some of the hairs to be shed daily. Normal average hair loss daily is 75-100 per day.
Hair loss is a very common problem for which a patient consults a dermatologist. In a broad way the cause of hair loss is most often simple, it depends the loss of hair is in a patch or it is diffuse occurring all through the scalp. Causes of these 2 different types of hair loss are varied.
Diffuse hair loss – this is much more common than the patchy hair loss. Most of the patients who come for consultation complain of diffuse hair loss. This hair loss can occur in a patterned manner in both the sexes; this is what is called as male-pattern and female-pattern baldness. The pattern of hair loss differs in males & females, in males it starts with recession of hairline from the front, while in females it starts as widening of central partening or loss of density of hair on the vertex i.e top of the head. This patterned hair loss is genetically determined process and is a gradually progressive condition.
The next common causes of hair loss particularly in a woman are Iron deficiency anaemia, thyroid disorders, malnutrition etc; this is termed as Chronic telogen effluvium. In some cases any acute sever illness like fevers (malaria, typhoid etc.), surgery, trauma, post-partum, severe stress can be followed by a bout of hair loss about 2-3 months following the event, this is called as Acute telogen effluvium. Some of the medications can also be a cause of hair loss; the common medications that can be a cause of hair loss are anti-cancer drugs, heparin, anti-thyroid drugs, retinoids etc.
The next form of hair loss is the patchy form this can be divided into scarring or non-scarring depending on the presence of opening of hair roots (hair follicles). The various causes of non-scarring patchy alopecia are:
Alopecia areata, this is a common cause of non-scarring patchy hair loss more so among children. It is an autoimmune disorder i.e the body starts damaging its own organ in this case the hair. It is most often a self-limiting disorder but sometimes when it is rapidly spreading or involves extensive areas it responds poorly to treatment. It can be precipitated by stress. There are several treatment options for managing it properly.
In children another common cause of patchy hair loss is the fungal infections of the hair on scalp i.e tinea capitis. This can present in several ways, like a scaling patch on the scalp or a patch of hair loss with broken hair at the surface of the hair root opening.
Another not so common cause of hair loss is the trichotillomania, which is an obsessive compulsive disorder in which the patient’s pulls off his/her own hair resulting in patches of hair loss. This form shows a characteristic tuft of broken and twisted hair.
Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia commonly seen at the front of the hair occurring due to some of the hair styles that exert an excessive pull on the hair.
Next form of hair loss is the scarring type, in which there is destruction of the hair roots, resulting in patches of hair loss that is permanent. It can occur because of several skin disorders like discoid lupus erythematosus, lichen planus, folliculitis decalvans, severe fungal infections like kerion, favus etc. Severe bacterial infections like recurrent folliculitis, furuncles etc. The causes of scarring alopecia are plenty. Management of scarring alopecia is difficult and most often it is permanent.
In addition to the above mentioned causes there are several more causes of hair loss.
Hair Care measures:
1. Hairs are a pure protein structure so a good diet is necessary for good hair.
2. Don’t use too harsh shampoos or cosmetics on hair.
3. Never comb hair when they are wet.
4. Don’t use shampoo’s more than 2 times in a week.
5. Don’t undergo procedures like hair straightening, curling etc.
Management of Hair loss: depends on its cause; there are several treatment options available for the various forms of hair loss. Whatever the treatment used it takes time for the response to be obtained as the hair grow in a cycle and the dynamics of the hair cycle need to be altered to get response, and it takes time for these things to happen. So, any treatment used for hair loss should be given a trial for at least 2 months before thinking of any response.
